This is my favourite Die Zauberflöte and I appreciate it greater, the more I watch it. I don't feel that at the moment it is necessary to give a review of the actual production as this has been well discussed for the original DVD release, see below;

However I made the decision to upgrade to Blu-ray last month and I cannot wholly express how wonderful this production is to watch in the crisp picture and sound quality that this new format offers!
Although today, the number of operas available on Blu-ray may not warrant upgrading one's home cinema setup yet, the victory in the format war with HD-DVD and the work of opusarte to expand their range are making this investment increasingly worthwhile!
