Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
For those who found 2004's Aliens vs. Predator too lightweight in the gore-and-guns department, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem offers a marked improvement in both categories, as well as a respectable amount of rumbles between the title extraterrestrials. Set in the 21st century (which predates the story to all of the Alien features), Requiem sends a crippled Predator ship crashing to Earth in a small Colorado town; unbeknownst to the locals, the craft is loaded with H.R. Giger's insectoid monsters, which make quick work of most of the population. As the human cast is slowly whittled to a few hardy (if unmemorable) souls, a Predator warrior also arrives to complicate matters and do battle with the Aliens, as well as a ferocious Alien-Predator hybrid (dubbed a Predalien by the sci-fi and horror press).

Visual-effects designers and music-video helmers The Strause Brothers (who make their feature directorial debut here) keep the action on frantic throughout, which is wise, since the dialogue and characters are threadbare at best; that should matter little to teenage male viewers, who are inarguably the film's key audience. Fans of the Alien franchise, however, may find the offhanded nod to the series' mythology given during the finale its sole saving grace. --Paul Gaita, Amazon.com

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing but not as bad as I heard   July 16, 2008
The story: an Alien Predator comes to earth and starts to breed with and eat everyone in town. One Predator is dispatched to kill it and its offspring. Humans are caught in the middle of all this and are trying to get out of the town. Now the plot or how all this is developed in the film is the problem. There are some tense scenes but most are just a blood and guts festival. There is no tension in the film and you do not care what happens to anyone. This is just an old fashioned B movie. The film, that is the actual picture is far too dark; I had my TV on Dynamic just to see something. Don't expect too much and you will not be disappointed. The brother Struss might get it right next time.

1 out of 5 stars Were was the story-line?   June 23, 2008

Ok. I admit; I got the story-line. But it was so obviouse it needs no further telling. One difference between this one and the first is that Predator is not "good-guy" like in the first AvsP. He does not help people. He kills whatever he comes over. OK? Got that? Because if thats what you are after; buy the damn thing. Otherwise; Stay CLEAR! The visual effects are covered in darkness. You actually have trouble seeing the film because it has been shot so dark. Details are not there. You realize after a while that there is nothing lurking in the dark. The darkness is not scary. And so you start getting bored. There is only attacks after attacks and thats it. It is not a good sign when you grab the cover and frantic start looking for information on how long the movie is.
The first movie was a fresh swiff. Bringing the genre back to life. But the sequal is nowhere near the first one.
If your a BIG BIG fan of the alien and predator movies you will have a semi-good-time. If you just enjoy them; Dont buy this one. If your thinking; "hm, I want to buy a movie to entertain me and some friends one evening. This cover looks nice." DONT!!
Buy the first. See the original Predator and Aliens movies! They are still classics!
Enjoy.

1 out of 5 stars How to kill a franchise   June 4, 2008

This film is so bad, I simply cannot understand why people are actually buying it. The whole " danger" of an alien was being in close confinement with one or being on a spaceship where loss of air would be fatal. On earth in an open town the danger is significantly reduced, er try running away folks. Also unlike form changing aliens, the aliens in this movie look like...aliiens. They couldnt hide in the population and could simply be shot. If they are killed in the open then their acid blood wouldnt matter. They have been reduced to wild animals in this film, they dont plot or plan they just infest and as such present a much lesser threat than when in space.
The predator, it must be the most inept predator living, why it only took a couple to defeat thousands of aliens in the first movie. This one has difficulty defeating a few.
No character developement, no plot to speak of, no reason to watch unless you need a fix of aliens and predator, but these are pale shadows of the terrors of the Alien and predator films. If the writers set out to create unlikeable humans they succeeded, but then this is just killing for the sake of it. So, they have just "used" ( in the worst sense) Aliens and Predators to revisit the slasher teen movies like Jason and Freddy to push product. If you liked Friday 13th part 100 and Halloween H2O then maybe you will like this. For all the rest of us that like well directed, well lit films, steer clear and don't believe the hype, this film sucks big time, buy it and you will regret it. I hired it just to see what the fuss was about and I sure am glad I never bought it, it is that bad and more

all the action takes place in practically 95% blackness. you cant see diddly at all.as for the story-its pants.as for the acting.... well, it certainly wont get a blue peter badge, let alone an oscar. in short-save your money!!
