Product Description
Q: How do I choose the right size wall mount bracket for my LCD/Plasma TV? Is this TV Bracket compatible with my TV?

A:

  1. Check the back of your TV and find the four threaded holes (if there is no threaded holes or less then four holes, then the TV is not classified as wall-mountable);
  2. Measure the horizontal and vertical distances between them (in mm); for example, horizontal = 400mm vertical =200mm;
  3. Select a bracket whose supported max. mounting-hole pattern is larger than one you have just measured; but the overall size should be smaller than the TV otherwise the bracket will be stickout from the back of the TV;
  4. You might also want to check whether the TV connections/ports is facing backward or not, if yes then do NOT select super slim wall brackets like PLB104 and PLB105 series because you might have great difficulties to get the cables into the slim space between the TV and wall.

Don't just look at the TV sizes mentioned on the item title, it is only for general references.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant bracket. Simple design. Great value.   August 30, 2008

I bought this bracket for my Sony 40" X3500 and it's almost perfect for the job. No space is wasted behind the TV and it's very secure.

If you do your research properly you should be able to avoid the problems that the reviewer below had with the connectors (how can you give something 1 star when the mistake is yours?!). Admittedly the potential problem with clearance didn't occur to me until I read the warning on the product description - and his review - but I then, before ordering the TV I went into John Lewis to take a look it to ensure that the rear sockets were sufficiently recessed. On the X3500 they are far enough back that the top part of the SCART connectors (as long as they are the angled type) - and the non-angled HDMI connectors - are both flush with, or below, the back of the TV. You will need to ensure that your TV is the same before buying this bracket.

Take your time when installing it and make sure you drill your holes properly; although the bracket allows movement up and down or left & right, it allows very little movement to bring the TV level. I was forced to widen the screw holes a little to provide extra movement after my drill wandered a bit in my reinforced concrete wall.
The instructions are pretty poor and a little confusing; the perspective on one of the diagrams is misleading and implies that the securing bar goes the wrong way round. If you're unsure take a look at the photograph on the box.

The only problem with using the bracket - and the reason for my "almost" caveat in my opening sentence - is access to the rear sockets of the TV. After my girlfriend had gone away for the weekend I had trouble with a connector that wasn't pushed home properly.
I managed to remove the TV on my own without help - but I nearly dropped it trying to re-hang it (imagine trying to hang a huge, heavy picture onto a couple of supporting nails and you get the idea). I am 6'2", of medium strength and arms wide enough to hold the TV; doing this on my own wasn't the problem but without someone to guide me it was dangerous. I do NOT recommend that anyone else try either, and anyone with a smaller arm span regardless of strength will probably need help lifting the thing as well as guiding it home.

Finally, I should add that the problem with accessing the connectors is not a design flaw; it is a compromise. If you want to make use of every inch of your living room, keeping the TV as far away from the sofa as possible, then other aspects of the design have to give. Other brackets do provide better access to the back but they don't hug the wall in quite the same way - and they mostly cost a lot more.

5 out of 5 stars Good product,but delivery is a pain.   July 29, 2008
Firstly, before ordering this you should be aware of a couple of things; you have to sign for delivery, no other option is available, which is a complete pain in the neck, especially as they only deliver Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm.In my case this meant postponing delivery for a day and then having to wait in from 7am until 2:30 pm, and all for something that cost under 20 quid.

The second thing you need to know is that you'll require a 1/2" drill bit, which cost a fiver,so add that to the price.

If neither of those things are a problem then order with confidence,because this bracket is great.Very quick and easy to set up and we had our Toshiba 47Z3030db lcd hanging on the wall within half an hour.I have to say the tv looks so much better now that it's wall mounted.Recommended.

Very high quality product, well designed and sturdy. Easy to fit and use with my Sony KDL40V3000 - no problems with cable clearance. Fast delivery and you can't argue with the price - especially when the official Sony wall bracket is 150!! Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars This is an excellent bracket!   June 20, 2008

I bought this based on the feedback. It puts the ones in shops to shame. Easy to fit & hang the TV. Used the spacers provided for 3/4" extra depth between TV & wall. Cut out small piece of wall to accommodate the deeper connectors i.e. VGA & HDMI as my TV's sockets (Sony 40W4000) not recessed into the TV.

The flush design was perfect. As the TV was already 11cm deep a less flush bracket would make the TV jut out too far from wall.

When considering a bracket add depth of the TV to depth of bracket to give you the total distance that the screen will be from the wall.
