Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
PLEASE NOTE THIS UNIT WILL *NOT* SEND VIDEO/AUDIO SIGNALS WIRELESSLY - FOR THAT SEARCH AMAZON FOR THE VM82 VIDEO SENDER. The PowerMid XL infrared extender set allows you to control your TV, VCR, satellite receiver or audio installation from anywhere in the house using your existing remote controls - even through walls and floors. Simply place the transmitter in the room from which you want to control the equipment, and the receiver within sight of the equipment you wish to control. The PowerMid receiver converts the infrared (IR) signal from your remote and converts it to a radio frequency (RF) transmission which is picked up by the receiver which then converts it back to infrared. If your equipment is hidden away in a cupboard then you can connect an optional Marmitek IR Eye infrared extender cable to the receiver and you can control the equipment without having to open the cupboard doors. Extra transmitters and receivers are available separately so that you can control your equipment from different rooms and/or control equipment located in more than one room.

5 out of 5 stars Works faultlessly   September 5, 2008

If you're looking for a remote control transmitter, I recommend this system wholeheartedly. I bought it to replace another very similar product, which was struggling with the range I was after. I've not been disappointed.

Firstly, the build quality is excellent. The antenna is decent and strong too. The power supply is integrated, which I think is a good feature as it means you don't need to plug in a transformer. The range is excellent: I have one transmitter in every room, controlling a Sky box in the loft. All the transmitters work well, despite there being a lot of stonework in the way. The units are 4" high, and look quite smart.

I purchased these after extensive browsing of the reviews on this site. These work very well to bounce the remote signal from my controller into my HD recorder and my DVD player which are hidden away in a cupboard. Let's Automate Ltd were also very helpful when the initial product I received didn't work as expected, sending me an immediate replacement - which shows real faith in their product's abilities. Very happy.

I bought these to control my Sky, CD player and AV receiver from the conservatory. All the equipment is located in the lounge.

It is transmitting through 4 walls over a distance of approximately 8m. I have found the Sky remote to be a little fickle in that it needs to be pointed DIRECTLY at the sender whereas the CD and amp remotes work every time as long as they are aimed at the direction of the sender.

Also worth noting is the receiver unit is not in line of site of any of my equipment..yet works fine. The receiver is placed on top of a cabinet and the equipment is underneath within the cabinet. Good stuff!

There is no installation required..just plug in and go. The units are also cleary marked as to which is the receiver and which is the sender. The black, pyramid design is very neat and fits in nicely with my other black AV euqipment. Highly recommended :) Note, they do not work with a small selection of brands...see manufactuers website for more info.

5 out of 5 stars Straight forward   July 31, 2008

Got this to replace our skygnome which was always losing contact with the base unit. Set up in no time with the units discretely out of sight (they're much smaller than the gnome) and it all worked perfectly straight off. The only potential problem is if the neighbours get a set - they all operate on the same frequency!

I needed a wireless controller to change the Sky channels from another room in my house. I had previously tried two other makes [both more expensive than the Marmitek], both with intermittant performances leading to much frustration. The Marmitek worked first time and later I was able to connect to an IR Extender Cable [bought seperately from the supplier Let's Automate] and control my Sky box within a cabinet. A particular advantage of this kit was the flashing lights at each end when the remote was operated indicating the system was working.
