Very unlucky, or very poor speakers October 10, 2008 I bought these as they were the only 2.0 in this price range. Within minutes of using them I discovered a high pitched whining coming from the left speaker, which was particularly noticable at low volumes. I googled about and disovered many people had had this problem. I thought I would give them a second chance, so I asked for a replacement set. Amazon provided this quickly, but they suffered from exactly the same problem! Very disappointing. I have now returned both sets for refund and gone for the superior but more expensive Bose companion 2.
Bang on for the money October 6, 2008 I disagree with the last two reviewers - these are very good for 45, and perfect if you want a pair of speakers connected to a PC, and you want clear, well resolved sound. I have had 3 or 4 Creative systems prior to this, and have always found they make well constructed, musical kit. They are a good size, not too big (like T40s) by your PC, and well made, with separate grilles. Agree that the blue light is annoying, but a dab of white-tack covers that up no problem. These speakers are not really for bassheads, if thats your bag I suggest you stick to a 2.1 system and muddy everything up with great big wodges of low end. Not for me. I have replaced a 2.1 PC speaker system with these and am well happy because their resolution is far superior...but then again, I accept that for 45 I will not be rivalling the 10K system I have in my music room...which has plenty of everything.
You pays your money and takes your choice - but for sub 50, I doubt you will do better than these!
Not that great September 6, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
These speakers are only marginaly better than the usual 20 variety. They are not even worth the reduced price of 50. Sound quality is reasonable and balanced at low volumes but turn up the volume and the bass response is completely overpowered by the mid-range, making for a decidedly rubbish sound. Another thing is the stupid high powered blue LED power light which is constantly in your face. What were the designers thinking ? I have reduced the brightness of mine by painting it out with correction fluid. My advice, if you're looking good sounding speakers for playing music on your pc, look elsewhere.

I have bought the Creative GigaWorks T20 to replace a modest pair of Altec Lancing since I am used to editing sound on proper monitors and I wanted a more capable pair of speakers to hear music on my laptop. What a disapointment...
All that's wrong with these pair of speakers can be summed up by saying: 'They overestimated their ability to handle bass' This is responsible for the worst possible choise of crossover frequency which leads to blurry bassline, harsh high frequencies and distorted mids. There is no way around this because the HI/LO controls are practically rendered unusable, turning down the LO freq starts removing Bass body without fixing the mid-lo territory, and the HI control cannot get rid of the harshness present on the Trebles. Trying to create the lacking Mid frequencies is impossible as well.
What this means is that listening to any properly mixed acoustically demanding contemporary music is exhausting and unsatisfiying... Forget listening to Depeche Mode, Tom Waits, Portishead, Tindersticks, Radiohead and the like! The speakers are just inadequate to handle their music.
Only thing that sounds acceptable on these speakers is oldies, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and the like because of the limited frequency range of the old recordings, as well as recorder TV programs that you view on your PC.
What I have to admit is that the built quality is fine and the speakers provide good connectivity for a second source like an MP3 player.
But what is more importand is that the listening experience NEVER becomes complete and satisfying.
I feel that the T20's DO NOT in any case deserve the raving reviews they get, so please try to hear them before buying!
Good but not that good September 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was really looking forward to trying out these speakers as I had read some really good reviews about them, So I decided to borrow some to see what they were like. I really liked the design and how sturdy they felt, the mid range sound and upper levels are crisp with good sound definition, but the bass was just awful. The speaker cabinet is plastic which is exactly how it sounded, it overpowers the good bits and just ruins what is a well designed sound system. I suppose I am just being over critical but the best way I can decribe it is that they are just good pc speakers and nothing more, but to be fair that is what they are.... pc speakers. My advice is get a good 2:1 system with separate sub woofer.
