4 out of 5 stars What a great bit of kit!   December 29, 2008
A. WICKS (UK)
Bought the Humax on the strength of reviews on Amazon and Which. Have been rewarded with a great HDD box. It is so easy to set up and just keeps getting better as you realise what it can do. Record one programme or a whole series with the touch of a single button. Record 2 programmes whilst watching a third!. br /Overall quality is good, with nice easy to use remote. br /Only negative is that it is slightly noisey (not enough to put me off) and you need to watch for over-runs of programmes being recorded or you may lose the endings. br /My advice - buy one! br /

5 out of 5 stars Changes the way you watch tv... for ever!   December 18, 2008

I have owned the Humax PVR 9200 for over 2 years now so am well versed in all of its foibles and quirks. However, despite the few times that things have gone wrong I can, without doubt, give this product a 5 star review and still happily recommend to friends and family. br / br /Over the years I have received software upgrades which have given me chase play and series link record. I have also suffered (once) from a harddrive malfunction which lost all my recordings, and glitches in the early days. However, now I can't remember the last time I had a problem and the Humax works quietly away in the corner recording all of my tv delights for me to watch when I a ready with no adds in the way. The controller is well thought out and easy to use and everything just works as it should do. br / br /Overall, don't hesitate to buy this product as it will make your life infinitely easier!

5 out of 5 stars Don't Be Put Off By Bad Review   August 31, 2008

I note someone has posted a bad review following their experience with one of these items. Did he consider he might just have had a faulty unit and asked for a replacement? I've had mine for a year or so and it's still the best bit of kit I've purchased. Others have explained all the benefits a PVR brings to TV viewing, with which I fully agree. To address the two "issues": mine has frozen perhaps twice in a year, and it can be recovered by switching it off and on again with no loss of content. As for the fan, I simply don't notice it when I'm watching TV. Highly recommended.

Most of what needs to be said has been mentioned by other reviewers. I have used other PVRs but this blows them out of the water. br / br /There are some minor gripes, but no product of this type is going to be perfect. If Humax is listening, I'd like to see a better text entry function (maybe allow a keyboard attachment - how about bluetooth?) and perhaps a LAN connection (?) would be very nice. br / br /I have seen one bad review here. Not my experience. I've had mine for over 6 months now and it froze once. That's it. I also agree that the support is not so great and the manual is pretty ropey. However, it is so easy to use and so relaible you are unlikely to require either. br / br /It's not perfect, but it's the best out there!
