5 out of 5 stars Use Scene Modes   July 21, 2008

I wasn't too impressed with the pictures from this camera when I first started using it in auto mode, too washed out with poor colours (OK it's a cheap camera, what do you expect). However, I then started using the scene mode settings and what a transformation ! This makes a huge difference, colouration is now pretty much what you would like to see. Excellent little camera for the price.

5 out of 5 stars For the ease and price, the perfect first camera!!!   June 27, 2008

I bought this one off Amazon a while ago. I've taken lots of stills and hours worth of videos already and Im pretty happy about the purchase.

I was using a 35mm Nikon F55 before, which was very good in its own right, but the whole ritual of getting the films processed and printing them out was getting tedious. Though I've had my flints with lots of Cybershots and Samsungs this is virtually my 'real' first digital that I bought 'new'.

One main thing is, its really easy to use. I hadn't even gone through the guide when I was exploring through the various setups its got. And setups/presets, its got many. I was at the British MotoGP the other week and fairly abused the various still modes and it all turned out very good. Its only got a 3x optical zoom, which might be a problem, but thats about it with all other similar spec cameras. The videos were impressive when compared to my friend's higher spec Samsung. If you want perfect quality, then there are definitely other options at the higher end, but in the 50-100 bracket this one does stand its ground with ease. As such its the perfect first digital.

I bought this 'new' for below 60 including a 4GB Transcend SD card and for that price this is totally worth and some. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Good middle of the road camera   May 13, 2008

If you're a professional photo nut, this is probably not for you. Then again, if you are, you wouldn't be looking at this camera. All that aside, the kodak Easyshare is the PERFECT camera for the amateur photographer or average person who just wants good pictures and downloadable capabilities. Great memory storage too.

The best part is the help button. Unlike some other cameras, this one really holds your hand through the process and it's virtually impossible to make a mistake. You can toss the manual if you want--that's how helpful it is.

This camera almost does away with Photoshop, but not quite. As I said before, if you want a really good camera for a great price, and you're not looking to have your photos in some contest, this will do nicely.

Would also recommend the SAMSUNG S630--VERY similar with 3X optial zoom and a few more details.

5 out of 5 stars A superb camera for the price (and for a bit dearer a price too)   May 9, 2008

I paid almost double the price for this camera and still feel like I got a bargain. It is a very well made camera with all the atributes of one a lot dearer, anti camera shake, large screen, different modes etc. The internal memory is a bit small, but no smaller than most other cameras. Mine is in black too, and it makes it look a lot dearer than it is. Good stuff.

having never gone over to digital camaras before i wanted a camara that would be very simple to use and give good clear pictures for around 50. This fills all of this. the software is easy to use and transfering pictures is a breeze. even a night out with unsteady hands gave great results! it is light and looks more expensive than it is, a pleasure to use, and with a memory card and rechargable batterys complete. also found that the video function is quite good and has sound when downloaded on to my computor (which didn't realise when filming so had some funny commentry!!)
