Great performance, excellent value October 16, 2009 A. D. Popple (St Andrews, Fife) This was purchased to work with an Epson projector in a small village hall. The results are really good, with ample sound to fill the hall, albeit turned up nearly all the way. Distortion at this sound level is not a problem in our situation. Sound quality is good, with plenty of bass and a realistic sound stage. Could have done with rather longer cables, but there again it is a home cinema system and they are certainly long enough for all but the largest living rooms. Cables are very thin, which I suspect restricts the sound quality a bit, and connectors are not rewirable, but you can't have everything and at this price we are getting a lot more than I had expected. Being able to dock an iPod is useful, but you need a tv or projector to view play details - my iPod's screen is disabled when docked. Not the end of the world...
Good Home Cinema System October 13, 2009 C. Harrison (Lancashire England GB) Arrived on time, This looks and sounds a quality product, Set up is easy following the Easy Setting Guide provided with the operating instructions. Fantastic Base sound DVD. The remote control needs some getting use to when selecting the inputs, but otherwise no problems.
Good system all round October 10, 2009 sharpshifter (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
So far i've been quite impressed with this surround system, nice clear sound, quite powerful and has plenty of connections. Got it hooked up to a Freesat box via Phono cables and an Xbox 360 via Optical and the sound is excellent from both. Obviously the Xbox has the advantage of Optical as it can output real 5.1 surround but even the simulated surround from TV programs is good.

br /An included feature that was very useful when setting it up is a little conical microphone, which picks up the sound from each speaker and adjusts the volume for you - handy for when the room size or shape stops you from having the "perfect" surround setup.
br /
br /The equalising system takes a more pre-defined approach by letting you choose from 4 or 5 EQ settings (clear, soft, heavy, flat..) and then the subwoofer has 4 power levels. Aside from that there's Whisper Mode and Centre Focus which are both useful at low volumes. Generally it seems only the more expensive systems let you alter bass/treble manually, so for it's price the PT470 has good middle ground.
br /
br /Also the rear speaker cables are 5 metres / 16 feet long, but it's not difficult to extend them if required.. same goes for many other systems though.

br /Visually, DVD's look good (even on my cheap telly!)

need surround sound to connect to these ??? dont know which the best ??? please help
Big value and big sound! October 1, 2009 AJM (UK) This is a great value addition to anyone's living room, especially those who like to annoy the neighbours! I chose this unit as am not interested in Blue Ray (yet), and use it more for listening to music from my Ipod, CDs and music channels on Sky. For this it is briliant. I haven't managed to get the volume or the sub woofer past the half way settings yet without fear of falling out with the neighbours or shaking pictures off the wall! It takes a little while to set up, in terms of the wiring, but once you have all the speakers and wires in place, the automatic setup makes life very easy. The only critiscm I could possibly have is that when watching movies, the talking seems quiet compared to other background noise, but it might be that I haven't got the best out of the settings yet. Definately recommended.
