5 out of 5 stars Who needs bose?   July 9, 2008

Received this little box of fun and gave it a go. The rumours are true about the default volume it is loud but just hold the minus and its fine. The volume is controlled by the remote/manually and scrolling the ipod does nothing which is not a bad thing.
The sound is very impressive and the rotary dial for holding an ipod of any thickness is ingenius. My nano is set high and doesnt move an inch, my classic is set low and the same result...very impressive. There is definately an advantage here with the audio line in, as long as you plug it in the right connection that is. Connected to my laptop the sound was incredible and was easily a match for my sony hifi. I used both of my ipod and found that the sound was superior from the line in, although you do need to fiddle with sound levels from the dock and ipod to obtain a happy median. Another thing to note, the remote only controls sound when using line in, so forward and backwards must be done manually. The ipod charges while fitted to the dock, even if the line in is the source of music. The top end volume level is greater when connected to line in as opposed to docked but dont let that dissuade you in any way. Whilst in the shower with the door shut the volume was still very impressive. The bass generated is again fantastic and after trying everything from pop to heavy metal I have no complaints. The foo fighters monkey wrench blasted through these speakers gives an almost concert-like feel. Overall a fantastic bargain at a ridiculously low price. Dont let the price let you think of this as an inferior speaker system in anyway though, definately will last the test of time. Bye bye bose, hello athena.

1 out of 5 stars 2 Beware Faulty Product   July 2, 2008
We bought this speaker back in Feb 08 worked fine until a few weeks ago when the system lost all power and would'nt switch back on. Amazon sent through a replacement two days ago but the speaker casing was scratched, the sound kept turning on and off and it failed to charge the ipod.
It looks like several other people have experienced the same problem - my advise don't buy this product.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent value   June 13, 2008
Hi
bought this product for a party I was having last weekend. Plug and play set up, great sound and did the busines. Sounded better than expected. Nice and light too. Holes on back for wall mounting were v useful

4 out of 5 stars Sounds lovely but LOUD   June 6, 2008
Apart from the deafening volume that this system seems to default to when you switch it on (ouch) it sounds absolutely lovely.
People who visit me have commented how clear the sound is. Nice bass too.
Left speaker intermittently cuts out and is scratchy (this happened on day one) but after you switch it off and on again it seems to rectify.
If anyone knows a trick to stop the loud start up I would love tohear it because I seriously think it could damage ears.

2 out of 5 stars A flawed goddess..   May 29, 2008

Got this back in February after reading/comparing reviews on Ilounge. Seemed great for the money and faired quite well when I played it next to a Bose model. However, the fact that whenever you turned it on it would always blast out at full volume was slightly tedius (having just looked at previous reviews here I see someone else also had this problem).
It's now stopped working altogether for absolutely no reason - electricity is clearly getting through as the Ipod is still being charged. There's no sound & the 'power' button no longer lights up.
Choose wisely.
