3 out of 5 stars Disappointing   May 16, 2008

This is like a little sub, with it's wooden box, so the base is pretty good. But the two small front speakers inside just aren't up to the job. The overall sound was so disappointing that I returned it on the day it arrived.

5 out of 5 stars Low priced quality   April 25, 2008
I wanted an IPOD dock with quality looks and sound and didn't particularly want to spend a lot of money. I have a decent hifi (Denon) and wanted the Amplifi to allow me to listen to music around the house via the IPOD. What I didn't want was something plasticky with poor sound.

The Amplifi delivers both in terms of its looks and performance. The sound is crystal clear and the bass is impressive for such a small unit. I also think this thing looks the biz. One small anomaly is that when the unit is on but not playing there is some small feedback in the form of a low hum. This is not an issue really as it disappears once the music starts.

For 100 I don't disagree with other reviewers in saying that the quality of sound is surprisingly good. Comparison's with BOSE are valid only because in the majority of cases this type of system will be a second source of music (after the main hifi / separates) and therefore it seems pointless spending the extra money when the Amplifi gives you such quality and convenience for such a low price.

Excellent sound quality for the money. Very clear mid and top-end with muscular base from the separate woofer. Having being used to my beefy PC speakers and standard car stereo, the clarity is fantastic. This is no getto blaster - but will be more than adequate to fill a large room with quality sound - to the extent that you will annoy the neighbours at full volume.

Build quality is top notch - its strength is its simplicity and purity of design - the money has been spent on the construction and sound quality rather than superfluous lights, bells and whistles. The design is cleaner than the Logic cuboid dock, and will easily fit on a shelf or desk.

Took a gamble and went for this on the back of reader reviews. I don't regret it one bit (only had it today). Can't see the point of spending more money than this for a dock - the next level up would be a proper cinema surround sound system or separates.

5 out of 5 stars Got an iPod? Want GREAT sound at home? GET THIS!   February 10, 2008

OK - I was searching for a simple, not too expensive (i.e. not Bose), good quality sound dock for my iPod. I read lots of reviews. I even managed to get my hands on a Bose SoundDock to listen to (and there's no denying they have great sound quality, but for 200+??).

Lots of the reviews of this system elsewhere go on about the cost. They say what a great "budget" item this is. To be honest, that put me off at first because I thought - "I don't want budget, I want BEST but for less".

I took the plunge and bought this from these guys. And boy, I was impressed.

Even the box is comes in is groovy and exudes quality!

This is a very solidly built, well designed, quality product. Heavy, simplistic but functional in design. But the best thing is the truly excellent sound quality.

The Amplifi goes really quite loud - loud enought to fill the floor of our house (open plan 60' room) with as much sound as to make it necessary to shout!

Place it on a nice solid surface for the bass to really resonate. And that is another of it's plus points - the 5" dedicated woofer underneath. Fantastic.

If you want a bells and whistles, radio containing, display showing, light show of a docking system - buy something else. If you want quite possible the best 100 worth of engineered audio excellence you can get for an iPod, press that button at the top of the page now. You won't regret it.

Having trawled the shops and the net and looked and tested nearly everything I was still unsure about purchasing a "docking station" for my pod. I read the reviews on Amazon and decided to take a chance and get the Griffin Amplifi. Well, no problems. I am glad I did. The unit sits, looks and sounds perfect. Is easy to opperate. It looks very stylish. For the money it is incredible. I looked at the Bose and the Apple amongst others and feel that I made the right choice personally. Other users may feel that there are some features that are missing. However, if you want something that is easy to use and sounds incredible I would recomend the Griffin.
To sum up then;
On,off, pause, play, skip, volume up/down.Sounds excellent, looks splendid, what more do you require?
