1 out of 5 stars Very poor picture quality   September 28, 2008
The LCD quality in this TV is shockingly bad. Images are often extremely under- or over-saturated with some of the worst false contouring I've seen. Shading (particularly with flesh tones) is non-existent.

I made the mistake of buying this set without viewing it first; don't do the same as me. It's really only suitable for very occasional use in a guest bedroom.

If you are thinking of buying this TV, check the prices.
I found it at Empire Direct for 199.00 + 9.99. delivery.
I have not ordered one yet, as some of the reviews are not what I wanted to hear. However, I can't find better value.

4 out of 5 stars Better than expected   July 27, 2008

The Grundig "Elegance"

I did my research before buying this item, so no real surprises for me - Although I'd only seen a couple of reviews that mentioned that the DVD player is REGION FREE (will play all dvd's from all regions!) This wasn't mentioned on the box or in-store (you would have thought that this would have been a selling point!)

Another omission in information is the PC/VGA IN port at the back (again, you would have though that being able to plug your computer in to the screen and use it as a monitor would be a selling point!)

The remote control is easy to use (once you realise how to change between DVD/Digital TV/Analog TV/Hi-def Inputs (top centre button))
There are also some controls on the side of the screen (Power, Input, Menu, Channel + & -, Volume + & -, Disc eject, Play/pause) as well as a Headphone socket.

The USB slot is handy for playing MP3s, WMA and showing JPEGs and is accessed through the DVD section with an easy to use menu.

There is a grab handle, molded into the top/back of the screen which makes it much easier to put it on its base when you fist get it and very easy to move it about or carry it.

Also in the box was a leaflet that said - Grundig is part of the CarbonNeutral scheme and this TV will be carbon neutal for one years worth of viewing - A nice little touch.

The Only downside I can see (except that Freeiew isn't available in my area yet!!!) is the small 3watt stereo speakers - They're alright and will go as loud as you would expect for a small TV, although don't expect audiophile quality.
Sound gets a bit tinny at volume, but if you care about sound quality you would add a separate Amp and speakers to any TV setup.

2 out of 5 stars SO frustrating   July 4, 2008

This TV looked to have EVERYTHING i wanted, DVD, USB, Freeview all for a great price.

Got it home, set up really easy, great picture, great sound, really easy to use!

Then got the rudest awakening at 3am!!! Literally!! The TV came alive all on its on and started blasting out the sound from a TV Channel, no picture though.

THis happens EVERY morning at approx 3am and nothing, except removing the power stops it from happening - Grundig have no solution for this, instead, their engineers are "are looking in to it" as apparently its happening with lots of this model!!

Also, the standby light is an electric blue colour and lights up my bedroom at night!

All in all, a great tv for during the day, INCREDIBLY frustrating at night time!!

4 out of 5 stars everything I need!   May 16, 2008

works brilliantly through Hdmi when connected with my playstation. Most impressed, my mate has the samsung pebble which is lovely, except this TV is light and can be carried around with little effort! Very happy with my purchase and have no regrets, although being in front of the screen does make a difference!
