5 out of 5 stars One of the best though out bits of consumer electronics - ever !!!   July 19, 2008
This has got to be the best AV purchase I have made in the last 10 or possibly 20 years - Video and DVDr are made redundant - its only failing is that you cannot play DVDs through it and therefore need a separate DVD player. I previously had a Samsung HDD/DVD recorder which had the most user unfriendly, un-intuitive controls known to man. Thankfully it ceased to function after a few weeks and Amazon refunded the cost without fuss. I looked at the Sony ranges but they were not half as user friendly as the HUMAX. The recorder is plug and play and it even auto-updates the software on the air. To record a programme look it up on the electronic programme guide - put the cursor on the programme and press OK - its that simple. Picture and sound quality are excellent and it's crammed with useful and, unlike most of the others, accessible, easy-to-use functions such as time delay, picture-in-picture and simultaneous recording on 2 different channels due to the twin tuners. Several friends have seen ours and as a result are now Humax owners - if you have any doubts - find someone who has one, have a play and you will be hooked. Oh yes, final thing it comes with a 2-year guarantee as standard so peace of mind at no extra cost. Love it to bits - I just wish all consumer electronics were as well thought out !!!!!!!Humax PVR9200TB Freeview

4 out of 5 stars First rate product...with one small quibble!   July 12, 2008
I have had this machine for nearly two weeks now and I have no hesitation in giving it a high satisfaction rating. It is very easy to set up and use...the manual is user friendly. The playback quality of the recordings is excellent. My only quibble is the noise it makes when in recording mode...slightly annoying.

5 out of 5 stars An Excellent Freeview Recorder   June 19, 2008

I purchased a HUMAX PVR9200TB for my grandparents. I found it very easy to explain to them how to use the HUMAX, and had little need for the manual. I am sure as they learn how to use it, and become expert users they will especially like the ability to record two programmes at the same time, pause live tv, and record a whole series at the touch of a button. Highly recommended!!!!

This is the third PVR I've had in the last six months and it's by far and away the best. It's the Manchester United, the Mike Tyson, the Elvis Presley of the PVR world. It has more features than a 747 but it's as simple as a stick to operate and brings them all into one easy-to-use set top box.

So what's so good? Well, simplicity is up there for a start. It has iPod ease of use, sure, it's clever too. It switches the TV on and the remote works and controls the TV perfectly, so no need to take your chances with other remotes.

It records anything anytime and does it perfectly. It has picture in picture and loads of other neat little things that make using it a real pleasure.

I've had to look at the manual once to see how to do one particular thing, but other than that, it's a doddle and for a 160, it beats everything else you're likely to use.

You can happily go down to your local retailer and hand over your hard earned ducats, knowing full well that you are in for a lot of televisual pleasure. This is one product you can go and buy with confidence.

5 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the tin....very well   June 10, 2008

I bought this for my girlfriend as a birthday present, I work in digital media with MPEG broadcast hardware, HD playback etc was a bit sceptical.

As an HD recorder I have been very very impressed, the twin tuners are excellent and the picture quality is fantastic considering the price. OSD and menus take a little getting used to but it's extremely reliable and it's pretty quiet, your don't really notice it, pausing live TV is great, nothing like skipping the adverts when watching Formula 1.

We figured it out in an evening and have never read the manual.

It's so easy to setup, just plug in your aerial and it does the rest, if you're a technophobic don't worry, it's a breeze.

I'd never purchased a humax product before but I've been very impressed, if you're looking for an HD freeview recorder I'd recommend this every time.

I use the BT Vision box and it's garbage in comparision.
