Wow. br /I wasnt expecting to like it so much!! At first i thought taking chances was rubbish!! But no.. its very very good actually!! br /Celine's version of "alone" is amazing! br /I also dont understand why she released a video for taking chances, and i never saw it on british TV once!!! Why?? br /I have the single for "Eyes on me" i really love that one!! br /Some others to look out for: br /New Dawn- Her voice is stunning in this one! br /Skies of L.A = Very pretty! br /Fade Away= Great song. Its quite fast too! br /shadow of love= Equally as great and up tempo!! br /9.5 out of 10 overall. "thats just the woman in me" kinda spoils it... otherwise its great!! x

5 out of 5 stars A Great Album!!   February 9, 2008

This is a terrific album! Celine really shows off her voice and more importantly even, her emotional range. I was stuck many years ago by the song "Think Twice" and the emotion Celine put into it. This album has fewer real diva songs such as "My Heart Will go on" or "Because You Loved Me" but I think benefits from that. The songs are very personal and intimate. My own favourites are "My Love" (Wow! What a sensational track), "Alone" (better than the original), "New Dawn" and others - there's not a bad one on there. Celine always puts her heart into her songs and it shows. To be honest, she is a pure musical talent, probably the best female singer in the whole world, and though she is derided at times for not being "trendy" her singing genius is undisputed. Buy it and enjoy! It's wonderful.

4 out of 5 stars A Return To Form For Celine Dion   February 2, 2008

br /For most, you either love her or hate her and have felt either way from the start of her career. I've always liked celine and her voice. However, like many but not all of her fans, I've been decidedly disappointed with her efforts in recent years. Her 1999 compiliation All The Way really was the peak (for me anyway). 2002'S A New Day Has Come was patchy at best- some tracks were up to her past high standards: At Last, A New Day Has Come, Nature Boy but then the majority of the rest was very lacklustre bubble gum pop. br / br /2003's One Heart saw Celine step further down the teeny pop route. Most of it was very poor pop that failed to appeal to the mass market, not trendy enough for the young and too far removed from the comfort zone of most of her older fans. br / br /So, when I heard she had a new album coming I wasn't getting too excited but curious. Then I heard rumours she had worked with Timbaland, NeYo, R Kelly and I thought this album would be another bland pop orientated album. Thankfullly, Celine's time away from recording and her concerts in Las Vegas seem to have given her a renewed insight into why her fans have liked her and followed her to date- namely because she delivered well crafted Adult Contemporary pop songs and not because she was a trendsetting hip pop star working with the latest hip producer. Celine exuded class in the past and this effort is a classy affair. Gone are disco beats and bubble gum pop and instead Celine has delivered the sort of sophisticated pop that we have expected from her in the past. br / br /I love the majority of the tracks. However, there are some weak moments including the forthcoming single Eyes on Me which sticks out like a sore thumb because it's the only track that strays from the soft rock-pop sound of the Album. Why this was picked as the second single is beyond me... it doesn't relate to the rest of the album at all and is an unfair representation of the album, it's the same bland pop formula that failed to win her many radio plays and buyers of her music in the past few years. I won't lie, some of the tracks in the middle of the album aren't too strong and are forgettable namely A Song For You, New Dawn, A World To Believe In. But, there's plenty of decent tracks on the album to warrant this being hailed as a convincing comeback. Taking chances, alone, my love and shadow of love are all strong enough for single choices in my opinion. br / br /Ultimately, this is an improvement on her most recent efforts. Though not flawless, it certainly is a welcome return to a similar sound from her past. This is the sort of mature adult pop that made her. If you skip the terrible Eyes on me, this will be an enjoyable listen for celine fans of the past . br /
