A very expensive iPod bracket and charger September 23, 2008 I bought this the day before a 2,000 mile trip around France with my new iPod Touch. I plugged it into the cigar lighter and it held the iPod securely and was easy to adjust out of the way of the gear lever. It tuned in OK outside the house. Had to stop after two miles to retune. Worked fine for the 60 miles to the ferry at Poole. Retuned on arriving at Cherbourg and three times in the first 10 miles, then I gave up and resorted to our old cassette connector that we used to use with the portable cd player for the rest of the trip and had fortunately remembered to take with me. So, it proved to be a very expensive bracket and charger - I could have bought the previous version for a quarter of the price, or other brackets and chargers even cheaper.
ZERO STARS FOR BELKIN BUT LOADS FOR AMAZON September 18, 2008 Belkin iPod TunebaseFM I purchased this after reading all the reviews but it was just so bad. Where to start? 1. You can only read the display easily if you look directly at it (not possible in either or my cars) 2. The connection gets loose after being taken in and out a few times, obviously you need to take it out or its like putting a big sign in the window that reads " MP3 player inside please break in!" 3. The clear scan did not work, always took me to the same frequency, wherever I was. 4. The unit I had was faulty as it had bad static interference unless you touched it. (tried this in three cars, always the same.) and one of the memory presets did not work. 5. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE. Belkins customer service is appalling. It took FIFTEEN days to reply to my email and then only after wasting time with call centre operators who read from a script and have no clue how to think for themselves. No chance of a refund. They were so bad I contacted Amazon to ask for advice. They could not have been more helpful. Within minutes I was emailed return labels and 24 hours later the item was returned and my card being refunded. SO FIVE STARS FOR AMAZON AND MINUS SEVERAL MILLION FOR BELKIN. My advice is put your money towards a new ICE with an MP3 jack or an adaptor which will plug into the CD changer or similar, you can get either starting from @40.
Rubbish September 15, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having read the reviews on Amazon about this product I thought well that sounds good,NOT.It is really noisey you have to keep changing channels. It is also very very dangerous when you are driving as you have to keep changing channels all the time. I would not recommend this to anyone.
Great buy, & A BARGAIN Price from PC World. September 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After searching the net to get a good price as i found it to be too expensive from PC World etc etc. Then i came across PC World PRICE PROMISE. Not only do/did they match the price on here they also give you 10% discount.
As for the unit itself, I'm Like others who also used to have the cheap ones from eBay, which are no where as near as good as the Belkin. I live in Swansea but with my job I'm always up and down the M4 and no problems at all using this or the reception.
If your looking for either a new car stereo with line-out or USB connection, why bother when you can get this great smart looking unit.
And a Bargain for 38.
Excellent iPod accessory September 6, 2008 Pros - Superb hiss-free reception. - Easy to use. - Clear LCD display. - Additional brackets that fit any iPod ever made. - Robust construction.
Cons - I've got a Golf Mk5 and the cigarette lighter socket sits in front of the gear lever. I struggled to find a good position for the transmitter but eventually found one. - The piece that goes in the socket has a `friction washer' that makes it difficult to slide in smoothly. I might try to shave some of the washer off to make easier to insert.
