3 out of 5 stars Both dock and buttons failed   August 6, 2008
Gareth Moore (Cambridge, UK)
A good mouse whilst it works, but after about a year the charging dock started failing to connect to the mouse properly. Another year later and the left mouse button no longer works properly - it double or triple or even 25-clicks when you touch it sometimes. I've got mice that still work 20 years later, so this is a pretty poor effort. It hasn't even had much use because I've been away a lot - it still looks brand new to the eye.

4 out of 5 stars Owned one nearly a year, and just ordered a second one.   August 1, 2008
Mr. G. B. Powell (UK)
First of all, why four rather than five stars? br / br /1: I like the choice to renew batteries. Since I have had mine with great performance throughout and beyond the warantee period, then I have nothing to lose by opening the unit and finding somethign that fits ... but this will be inconvenient and user-option to change batteries is, I say, sacrosanct. Moreover, this mouse is simply too good and well made to have its life limited by its battery. br / br /2: The pressure required to click the left and right buttons is slightly more than the average mouse. And the centre wheel-click is a lot heavier. br /The Button pressure is the sum of the pressure needed to depress the microswitch PLUS the pressure needed to flex the 'pressure surface' of the mouse ... which rather than being a seperately hinged pad, is part of the rest of the mouse shell and you are therefore flexting the plastic itself. When I say 'slightly' I do mean 'slightly' ... in a blind test I would be able to differentiate between the pressure of this mouse and the logitech i-feel which ahs conventional hinged buttons, but it would ot be a matter of major acceptability rather one of micro-preference. br /Furthermore, it can be, to some extent rectified by sticking thin slips of plastic between the mouse-shell and the raised assembly in the centre which houses the wheel. br / br /3: It is quite a heavy mouse. For sliding is it perfect and the slight inertia prevents overshooting without it dragging. br /But when lifting it off the desk to re-centre it relative to the cursor then I certainly notice the weight. br / br /How does thsi mouse earn its other four stars? br / br /Bear in mind that I am a right-hander reviewing a mouse which has fundamentally NOT been made for left-handers. br / br /This mouse has nine button and one scroll function. Many clicking choices and a shpe which is made to get easiest acccess to them. br /It looks large but is cut away so that as well as being a good hand-rest it allows the fingers maximum travel, the they can no only get to the controls, but also do solid bridging between the mouse and the desk thus giving maximum anchoring for precise work. br / br /The laser tracking is totally fast and accurate both for FPS gaming and also Photoshop. br / br /The button-configuration possiblities is magnificent and can be expanded massibely further by 'Uber Options' a third-party driver and configuration program which unlocks all combinations. br / br /I am a relatively sophisticated user of photoshop for photo-editing and have got nearly one-handed operation by using Uber=options in the mouse and careful adjustment of Photoshop's own key-equivalents br / br /I own a simple 'Trust' graphics tablet and have had opportunity to use Wacom Intuos 3 but cannot justify them above this mouse in any area except pressure sensitivity. br /For complext sweeps and curves I find this mouse no more and no less easy to use than a pen. br / br / br /Why am I getting another? br / br /1: I have two computers running at the same time. I do not like mouse and keyboard switching. br / br /2: This has demonstrated its worth and I want to future-proof. More recent mice have not gone for such a button-array combined with comfort of use. So I am stocking up.

5 out of 5 stars A mouse that you can rely upon and work hard and long   July 4, 2008
Mr. P. Stewkesbury (Kent, UK)
We've all dabbled with wireless devices, and no doubt we've all experienced a few flops! I can remember buying cheap mouse keyboard combinations from the Aldi supermarket for just 14.99 - novel on day one, but after experiencing poor battery life, and frequent dropped letters when typing, and erratic cursor movement, these cheap versions usually end up in the loft after just a few weeks. br / br /I don't bother with wireless keyboards any more, nobody really sits in a bean bag 4 feet away from their monitor typing letters and emails! Keep your keyboard wired to your PC, and never drop another letter. br / br /Then, just get yourself this mouse. I have bought many for colleagues over the last few years. All have been delighted with it. br / br /It is very ergonomic and fits perfectly into my right hand grip, but also - if I want to rest my right hand, I can use it perfectly well with my left. br / br /It has every button you could ever need; I feel lost nowadays when I encounter a mouse without a scroll wheel and back forward buttons. The bezel around the scroll wheel can be rocked up down to page up and down on screen, and the scroll wheel itself can be rocked left right to move across the screen (ideal on broad web pages or wide spreadsheets). In the new Firefox 3 browser you can hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out to make everything on screen bigger or smaller - you can use this just as a temporary zoom, or if you want bigger fonts etc you can leave it set and Firefox will remember your preference - very handy for older users or people with vision problems, and so easy to adjust if you're sharing a PC. br / br /Much has been written about the laser sensor, I would just say that it does all that I need it to do, and does it well - the cursor reliably goes where I point. I use whatever mouse mat has most recently been gifted to me. br / br /The real winning point for this mouse over so many others available on the market is the battery life and recharging. It seems to me that there are still relatively few mice available with a wired charging pod/base where you can place it for recharging when not in use. Replacing AA batteries in the base of your mouse seems positively primitive to me now - it is never convenient, you always suffer for a period of time before you finally resolve that you must now change the batteries, and worst of all it's avoidable - pick the right product and it's a problem you don't need to deal with!! br / br /I work my mouse hard and long, I spend far too many hours on the PC, and it gets relatively little chance to recover - when the PC goes off an energy saving auto-switch takes all the peripheral power off too. I guess that for 8-10 hours a day of work, this mouse is surviving on just 1-2 hours of charging. br / br /The power indicator is very useful, it indicates three full green bars when fully charged, dropping to a single red bar as it becomes exhausted, but even then it'll keep working for an hour or more in the red. br / br /It's a great tool, use it well and you'll actually become more efficient. br / br /If you've tried the rest, I recommend you buy this - it seems to be the best!

5 out of 5 stars Mightier Mouse   February 28, 2008
JonnyD75 (UK)
As a replacement for my Apple Mightly Mouse I think this is wonderful. It was just a case of plugging in the base USB and it worked with no installers out the box. I'm very happy with it. It's comfortable, accurate and not prone to sticking like the Apple Mighty Mouse. br / br /If you are fed up cleaning the Mighty Mouse and want a reliable, high quality Mac alternative, then this is it.

As good as it gets for a small travel mouse packed with features. Micro receiver is a bid plus.
