OK for a while, but irritating when the ink runs out March 17, 2008 This was easy to use and install (I have a Mac mini) so 2 stars for that, and the print quality is very good BUT as soon as I bought the next set of cartridges (VERY EXPENSIVE), the problems began. Despite ensuring I had the correct compatible cartridges, the software insisted these were either (a) not loaded correctly or (b) were incompatible. Nothing in the help manual will actually help, so I now have a printer that won't accept Canon cartridges and that cannot be fixed. More plastic for the landfill? What a waste.
short life - no support August 27, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this printer - everything has been working well for 1 month and then i had this error message "Paper jammed" even if no paper was jammed. I found no online support from Canon, and lots of people online with that same problem that could not fix it. I finally opened the printer to check inside, and nothing was in, no little object - it is obviously an internal problem in the printer program - So i had to buy another printer. i wouldnt advice this printer for some serious work.
Great economy buy May 6, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was pleasantly surprised at the IP1600.Much better quality prints than I expected for the price, reasonably quiet & quick enough. One small point, order the USB lead when u order the printer,it doesnt come with one & its frustrating unpacking your new toy & you cant play with it straight away.Ideal first printer or if you're on a budget.
A False Economy Printer March 27, 2007 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought this printer for my kids to use as a "cheap" everyday machine. Two months down the road and the ink has already run out and it costs more to buy the inks than a new printer. This is just plain ridiculous. In the past I've always used compatible cartridges which are NOT available for this machine. The print quality is fine for a budget printer otherwise it would only get 1 star.
great printer at such price especially for students February 27, 2007 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this printer last Novmember. Having done quite a lot of research on printer through shops and other online printer retailers, I found at same price, this one get the best quality and accessories. You don't need to purchase ink cartriages seperately. at about 30 pounds, it includes 2 ink cartriages and sample photo papers. Besides, the documents it produced are in really good quality, and quite fast, compared with Laxmark. As a pervious comment said, it is a really good choice for student, who normally just do some simple printing for courseworks. If you are one of them, I would say this is tailored for you. Only drawback is it might be a bit larger, but I still think it is great!
