Amazon.co.uk Review
Slick, stylish, and fast-paced, Las Vegas is a high-tech hybrid of 1970s' Vega$ and 1980s' Hotel. Set in the fictional Montecito Resort and Casino, the show revolves around surveillance expert and ex-Marine Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton). McCoy reports to the president of operations and ex-CIA operative "Big" Ed Deline (the inimitable James Caan). If Duhamel is the show's charisma, Caan is the gravitas. The attractive cast is rounded out by Vanessa Marcil as casino host Sam Marquez, Nikki Cox as event coordinator Mary Connell, James Lesure as valet Mike Cannon, Marsha Thomason as pit boss Nessa Holt, Cheryl Ladd as Deline's wife Jillian, and model Molly Sims as Deline's daughter Delinda.

From the start, Las Vegas has attracted a diverse array of guest stars, from musicians, like Little Richard ("New Orleans"), to movie stars, like Sean "Samwise" Astin ("You Can't Take It With You"). Even "Mr. Las Vegas" himself, Wayne Newton, puts in an appearance ("Pros and Cons"). Other notable guests include Elliot Gould ("Jokers and Fools"), Jean-Claude Van Damme ("Die Fast, Die Furious"), and Alec Baldwin ("Hellraisers and Heartbreakers"), hot off his Oscar-nominated turn in The Cooler.--Kathleen C. Fennessy

5 out of 5 stars consistently humorous and inventive tv series   December 23, 2007
I like this tv series for the following reasons:it's about unusual jobs (in a casino complex) in an unusual place (las vegas),the storylines, acting and dialogue are humorous, there is a good rapport between the two main characters played by James Caan and Josh Duhamel (who run security for the casino and both have former connections with the military),the women are beautiful (I'm sure the men are too if you're into them),and you never know what will happen next.
This programme is great fun to watch and I think this is because it doesn't take itself too seriously. The episode with Jean Claude van Damme is one of the funniest I have seen on tv given his track record in hollywood movies of defying death on hundreds of occasions. The guy goes to las vegas, gambles once and....you've gotta see it!!

2 out of 5 stars Great show, awful UK transfer   March 25, 2007

If you want to buy the Las Vegas disc sets buy the US versions.
Even though this is a 4-5 years old show i felt like watching a movie from the 80's. The reason? Its the transfer; the colors, especially in this show are vivid and shiny, but the colors of the UK set is so dull you can feel the dust in your nostrils. I've bought both versions, UK and US, the difference is so clear even a 3yo can see.
Who ever is doing the transfers should respect the customers, this box set costs 3 times more of the US version but the transfer doesnt deserve it.
Infact this transfer problem applies for all of the US shows transferred for UK release. Just dont buy any US shows' UK dvd releases.

4 out of 5 stars Competently written and produced entertainment   January 25, 2006

These episodes are enjoyable as well written stories set in a Casino in Las Vegas. They are not intended to be profound or life-changing, but as entertainment they are successful. Four episodes are enough for me.

5 out of 5 stars LET IT RIDE!!!   December 3, 2005

If you like your dramas slick, sexy and PURE cheese then this series is a true guilty pressure. Las Vegas has NEVER looked SO good!! James Caan rocks as Big Ed (Deline) the chief of security at a high-running casino and armed with the sexiest team in the city of sin, packs the punches episode after episode. With a long list of special guests (Alec Baldwin, Van Damme) and a budget to match, its an absolute MUST SEE!!

I was recommended this by a friend as was not disapointed when i decided to rent this out. Las Vegas has to be one of the best series i have ever watched. I can't wait until Season 2 is released in December!
