Amazon.co.uk Review
A DVD accompaniment to their greatest hits album, International Supervideos collects together American punk rockers Green Day's entire visual history to date. Now something of the elder statesmen of the movement, the compilation starts with tracks from their breakthrough major label debut Dookie and brings us up to date with the Warning album and its three singles. While their music has always stuck fairly close to the three-minute punk-pop template, the band have explored the video medium well. Managing to avoid the clichéd live performance approach, the majority of the clips instead place the band in various environments, from a mental hospital (the excellent "Basket Case") to the clever sports pastiche of "Nice Guys Finish Last". Ironically, the best track of the lot is the one that owes nothing to their usual influences, the emotive, acoustic "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)". With this willingness to step outside of there own parameters and the later material easily equal to the best of their career, International Supervideos is not only an essential purchase but one that hints at a bright future for the band.

On the DVD: While punk rock isn't always about sound quality and clarity, International Supervideos is blessed with hi-fi crispness, providing an equally satisfying aural and visual experience. The almost cartoonish, Day-Glo quality of many of the videos is enhanced by the picture quality. Extras, however, are at a frustrating minimum. There's a web link, chapter selection and a subtitle facility, at last helping to make sense of Billie Joe's less than defined lyrics. --Phil Udell

5 out of 5 stars Superb!   August 8, 2005

Although this DVD is lacking in extras (there aren't any), the sheer quality and diversity of Green Day videos more than makes up for it!

From the early 'Dookie'-era to the pre-'American Idiot' vids of 'Warning', this collection showcases a dozen image changes for the band - Billie Joe undergoing a transformation from nose-pierced bratty teenager delivering angst-ridden punk anthems to subdued, vulnerable balladeer in videos like 'Good Riddance' and 'Redundant'.

Highlights include 'Longview', a low budget video of the band with all their blemishes, shot in Billie Joe's front room, where he happily hacks away at his sofa, and the elegantly stylish 'Hitchin' A Ride', whilst the sports-homage 'Nice Guys Finish Last', the cartoonish 'Basket Case' and the ingenious 'Walking Contradiction' will have you in stitches; 'Geek Stink Breath' is even slightly repulsive, especially if you have dental phobia!

This is a varied collection of videos and well-worth checking out.

Plus the songs are subtitled, so you can even singalong! What more could a Green Day fan want?

This dvd is like gold-dust to any true Green Day fan and if you don't already own it I strongly recommend you get it. With 16 of their best videos i don't see how you can go wrong. Green Day's best loved songs are in this including Basket Case, Longview, Minority, Warning, and Good Riddance among them. This dvd is a real kick-ass buy and i can guarantee you will watch it again and again.

5 out of 5 stars hilarious...............but how fat was billie joe then?   December 29, 2004

my dad got me this on boxing day and i was pretty exicted when i put it on because i had'nt seen many of the videos only the ones they played on superstars of noise. i put basket case on and cracked up laughing. i mean, green day do a pretty good job of pretending to be mental don't they?
other funny ones i thought were: longview where billie goes mad with boredom and starts cutting sofas with knives! nice guys finish last where the guys are performing a blinding set to a crowd and go mad with joy when they find out there number 1 ! and walking contradiction where the guys amazingly survive death and don't realise it !
if you absolutely hate going to the dentist or go queasy at the sight of blood then DON'T watch geek stink breath! it might be a really good punky teen song but the video just makes you wanna chuck! euw!
if you fancy having a dance then definitely put minority and hitchin a ride and get your groove on !
another good thing about this dvd is that it's got subtitles in it so if you ever got a bit tongue tied when you were singing green day now's your chance to sing the lyrics right!
there is'nt really anything bad about this dvd except the fact that billie joe was really fat back then. come on everyone! i know it sounds cruel but you know i'm right! even NME quoted that billie is now "inexpicably fit" (i had to ask what inexplicably meant!) and that IS definitely true (the fit part i mean!)And if billie joe ever reads this..........SORRY! (he'll probably hate me now but i had to get that off my chest!!)
there's also this video called last ride in which is a chilled, relaxing instrumental song that's perfect for de-stressing to ! (is there such word as de-stressing anyone?)
so, if you're looking for a bit of humour, emotion, blood!, insanity and basically just great music then buy this dvd !!!!!
peace out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Nothing special.... but Green Day fans will love it!   February 6, 2003

If you've been a Green Day fan for the last 5 years, chances are you have seen all of their music videos already. If thats the case then this DVD may not be for you.

Although the DVD contains their greatest hits, it will be nothing new to Green Days who are familiar with their videos. There are dissapointly no extras on the DVD, for example they could have added an interview or two or some footage never seen before.

If you love Green Day, you should but this.
If you love Green Day, but have already seen their videos, you shouldnt buy this!

It has everything from the Classics like Basketcase, Nice Guys Finish Last, Warning, Hitchin' a ride and longview, all he way to the videos that are just rare to see on Music channels such as Stuck with me, Geek Stink Breath and Walking Contradiction!! and of course many more!!

All I can say is Green Day choosing to release this Video is just pure Genius!!!!!
