Quite pointless really July 16, 2008 This item is quite simply not fit for purpose. I bought it in order to attach to the dashboard of my Focus - not the flattest dashboard in the world, granted, but I figured that with a good suction cup and a lock it might work. Apparently not - this refused flat out to attach to anything at all inside the car except the windscreen, which is what I wanted to avoid (the tell-tale rings on the windscreen being a beacon to all would-be thieves and vandals). It doesn't hold it's suction well either - on the completely flat desk at work it won't stay attached for more than a few seconds before inexplicably falling over (even when there's no sat nav on it). It seems to go from full suction to zero suction without any human intervention or knocks.
Additionally what was delivered was not a TomTom branded product. The only good thing about it is that it came with a variety of mounts so it should potentially work with a variety of sat nav systems rather than just the TomTom Go series.
The only real alternative to the TomTom standard mount and thankfully its quite good July 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Got one of these today and i am pretty impressed. I have a TomTom GO 500 but i've not really liked having a mount on my windscreen. This kit gives me a great deal of alternative configurations. I can mount the TomTom on my dash or clip it to the vent. You will need to use the base connector from the original mount to attached to this.
Some have mentioned the fact you have a missing nut. I have been using one that was part of the many alternative configurations within the kit. If you dont want to do this buying one is not a problem and only a minor irritation in comparison to the benefits.
Price was excellent to in my opinion, these things can cost so much at times.
Highly recommended

I got this for my TTG720 to replace the abysmal mount that comes with it.
I'll agree with other reviewers about the vibration, but there's a way around the vibration problem & that is position the mount on the windscreen in such a way that when you plug the car charger in & attach it to the mount that it rests gently on the dashboard.
That's what I do with mine in my VW Golf, bottom R/H/S of the windscreen, plug in the charger & it rests gently on the dash, c'est voila no or very minimal vibration!
BTW, just a point... You're meant to be listening to the Tom Tom's vocal instructions & looking where you're going not looking at the screen, that's why there's a setting to turn of the screen when you're moving in the Tom Tom's safety settings.
Shake, Rattle and Roll! May 22, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this so that I could attach my Tom Tom to the dash, rather than to the screen. When you first look at it, it seems excellent - sturdy and secure, and because of its long goose neck, it can be positioned at almost any angle.
The trouble starts when you try to use it. Whether attached to the dash or the screen, the shaking is so extreme that you can't use your Tom Tom. Everyone who was in my car was laughing hysterically (not the effect I had wanted!) at how the Tom Tom was shaking.
This mount is basically not fit for purpose. Ah well - back to the drawing board!

A very good alternative to the standard TomTom mount which falls off all the time.
