I watched this after watching the DVD Letters From Iwo Jima in HD DVD, which centred on Iwo Jima which is an Island off Japan that the USA troops are about to attack. Letters From Iwo Jima HD DVD [HD DVD] [2006] br / br /I assumed that Flags Of Our Fathers would show the conflict from the American side, the film does show the Americans fighting for control of the Island and the battle sequences are excellent and very graphic, but the main film centres around the group of USA soldiers who were capture in film hosting the US flag. An Emotional film which is stunning in its cinematic experience. br / br /HD DVD is excellent but like the Iwo Jima film it has that washed out effect which doesn't show HD at it's best, Sound is amazing!

'Flags of Our Fathers' is a war film that focuses on a conflict lost in history's pages, a group of men torn between honor and the truth, and a fascinating exploration of decision makers and those carrying out their decisions. This high-def release of the film has excellent video quality, a great sound package, and an engaging series of supplements. In fact, the only knock to the disc is that there aren't more special features. The Blu-ray and HD DVD versions are nearly identical and the only thing that pushes one higher than the other is the increased audio bitrate on this HD DVD edition. Other than that small difference, fans of the film should be more than pleased with this stellar release, no matter which format they own.
