Just what I wanted (although I paid much less, just last week!) November 2, 2008 plan-ahead-mum It's great. On hols in the US, we used this type of machine, with the thermal jug so that you turn it off as soon as it's brewed, and loved it. Saves lots of energy and keeps coffee piping hot for hours, not burnt. Our old one had a glass jug, and tended to caramelise the coffee - yucky smell after a while. This one is really ace, for fresh coffee all morning. br /Yes, to get the last cup out you have to tip the jug right up, so previous review was useful. br /One BUT - I bought mine mid Oct 08 and paid 45 ish; now it's 75! I know we're in an inflation period but that's outstanding. Wow. Why?
Almost worthy of 4 stars August 17, 2008 charlotte (cardiff) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
1. The coffee maker looks good - although the jug is bigger than in the photo br /2. The coffee is hot when made, certainly hotter than my previous maker which was an uninsulated jug and a hot plate; I don't know if it keeps hot for 4 hours, I only ever make sufficient for a one-off brew. br /3. It is quiet and efficient br /4. It uses paper filters, not a bad thing. It does stop all those coffee grounds from accidently spilling out of my bin. br /5. The reason it only has 3 stars - the liner of the jug is wide, with a narrow neck. Therefore to get all the coffee out of the jug (and to pour all of the water from the jug into the coffee maker), you have to virtually tip the jug up-side-down. Otherwise you leave approx. half a cup full in the jug. I wonder who tests these things in the design stage?
