3 out of 5 stars Home-tek steam mop   June 11, 2008

This mop is brilliant on hard floors - I have used it on laminate and vinyl flooring and it cleans really easily - especially after a very muddy dog has left his mark. I was very impressed with it and have used it for the last year with no need to use any chemical cleaners at all. However, it gradually started to take longer and longer to heat up and finally stopped working - just two weeks after the 12 month guarantee expired. I think for around 30 it is good value, especially as you save money on liquid floor cleaners, but would not pay more as I think it has a limited lifespan. I only used it about twice a week so it wasn't over-used. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I think I might go for something a bit more "heavy duty" next time.

3 out of 5 stars Questionable quality   March 28, 2008

After using this just a few times it has broken down. The lights work and it appears to heat-up, and when you press the floor button the pump sounds - but no steam comes out. So not very impressed!

3 out of 5 stars Buyers Beware!   March 27, 2008

Be warned! Although the mop is great for cleaning tiled floors (OK on carpets), this is the second mop I have had in the last three years. Both broke down just after the year's warranty. I contacted Hometek who told me that because I live in an area of hard water I should have used distilled water in the resevoir. They now sell the product with crystals to compensate for this, so it is obviously a problem that has been encountered before. As the product was out of warranty Hometek were not interested - tough luck basically!
