4 out of 5 stars A great kettle!   October 4, 2008
I bought this kettle several months ago and have absolutely no problems with it at all. The water temperature is less than a standard kettle, but I have not noticed a difference in the quality of my cuppa. It is fairly noisy, but not distractingly so and the benefits of having your cup of tea ready within 30 seconds far outweigh the cons for me.
Before buying this kettle I was concerned that the cost of filters would outweigh the benefit of having one, but I have only just had to change the filter after 3 months use (our water supply is pretty soft) - this is compared to our last kettle which required descaling every month. There is also a descaling cycle that you can run when the filters need changing.
All in all, I think this is a brilliant kettle.

4 out of 5 stars Does what it says on the box   October 3, 2008
Great gadget. For all those who say water should be boiling for tea, actually it shouldn't. Boiling water breaks down the health benefits of tea. Using boiled water is as big a myth as putting the milk in first. We only boil water for historical reasons to remove the risk of getting sick. As a previous reviewer said, it's only the first little bit of water that doesn't heat up, so the first cup will be colder than the second. If you're busy it is perfect, you don't wait for it to boil, you just press the button and a second or 2 later (it says 3 on the box)perfectly heated water comes out. Sure, some people like to burn their mouths with their tea, in which case this may not be for you (or just heat it in the microwave), but for people who just want a well-made cup of tea without waiting for a kettle to boil (and the associated water waste that goes with boiling a kettle) this is for you!

1 out of 5 stars Don't even bother   October 2, 2008
Hmmm, good in theory but actually won't replace your kettle. Yes, it's good for the odd cuppa here and there, but if there's more than one of you needing to use it you'd be better off using a standard kettle. Why? Well, firstly the reservoir doesn't actually hold that much water which is a nuisance when you're trying to cater for 3 or 4 people at a time. Secondly, the water isn't actually 'boiling' at any time, so isn't hot enough to use for gravies, stocks etc. Thirdly, the 'filter needs changing' light is VERY annoying and does indeed flash after about 10 days. What's more, the water in my drinks still had a film on top even with a brand new filter. My overall view is don't bother wasting your money, just put less water in your kettle and buy a water filter from Argos for about 5!

2 out of 5 stars Hotter from the tap...   September 24, 2008
I wish I'd read the reviews as well. Not hot enough for tea or for filter coffee - just about OK for instant. Kids like it because they can't wait for anything so I'll be giving it away soon to one of them. Now had to buy a kettle. Needs a product rethink.

4 out of 5 stars QUICK CUP DELIGHTS   September 24, 2008

After walking back to the office with glee after purchasing the quick cup, it had taken months before my mind powers finally persuaded the kettle that we had to die a nasty death, and the walk back was one of joy end exhiliration and a bounce in my step, mostly due to the fact that i spent 60 on this.

i sat about to look at the amazon site and see what it and its community had to say about the quick cup.... needless to say i was a little perturbed at the prospect of so many negative views. still i had my money back guarantee if it was utter poop.....

so with trepidation and a fear of hating an inanimate object that i had lusted after for many a month..... i took the quick cup for a test drive....

with its sleek look stunning curves and smooth exterior, the smile was forming, but would it be all that i wanted or a let down....

for me this is a thing of beauty and does the business.... yes it doesn't boil the water to 100 degrees but all that means is that you dont have to wait 5 mins or so to let it cool down... and plus it makes a good hot cup of tea.....

why not the 5 stars, doesn't do the washing up for me....
