I bought the new edition of the G5 because i was looking to replace my dell optical mouse, which wasn't exactly a pleasure to use, the G5 on the other hand is bliss. Performance-wise the tracking and accuracy are both superb. The build quality feels solid and its not an ugly old girl either. The only problems i have witnessed so far is the middle mouse button, which takes some getting used to due to the sensitivity of the scroll right/left buttons, and the weight cartridge. I inserted my weight cartridge without any weights in just to see how it worked and unfortunately its now stuck! Luckily the standard weight doesn't feel too light to me at all. I should also mention the software, its very easy to install and run and uses very little system resources. br / br /overall i thoroughly recommend this mouse to anyone looking for an accurate and responsive gaming mouse.
Lovely little rodent - assuming it continues to work. May 22, 2008 music addict (UK) Well apart from the fact that the price dropped the day after I bought it, so far am very happy with this. Certainly the best mouse I've owned. Mouse wheel just clicky enough, sensitivity very good (I doubt it uses a super cheap sensor + interpolation the way many supposedly high DPI mice do) and customizable weights work very well (admittedly, some might find such a concept just way too geeky, but if you use the PC a lot its genuinely useful, honest), and size is just about right. But most of all it doesn't seem to lose tracking and go berserk on fast movements (i.e. in games) as many optical/laser mice do in my experience. br / br /Still, the trouble with Amazon reviews for most things is they are usually written after only having the product a short while. Paying this sort of money for a mouse it had better carry on working for a good long while, which doesn't seem to be the experience of every reviewer here.

The main problem I had with the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse, was that my computer didnt have the CPU power to make it work. I had a 440W Power Supply, and it wouldnt work for me. br / br /I have recenlty upgraded my PC anyway, and now i have a bigger power supply. For what you spend, you get what you pay for in that respect. It is a very good mouse to use, with your vertical horizontal scroll wheel, mouse pointer speed setting and forward back page buttons when on websites make life easier. br / br /In heinsight it is a very expensive mouse, and the weights they give you are silly imo, just another way to add unessesary bells whistles to get your cash. The price has droped since i bought it, overall a good mouse if you have the budget in mind. I preferd my Logitech MX510 optical mouse, and would reccomend that one. It may be a bit older, but does pretty much the same job, and cheaper if you can get one.
One of the better mice, but expensive January 18, 2008 MoJo (UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Mice are very tactile objects, so it depends as much on the individual as anything if you like a particular model. br / br /The G5 is fairly comfortable, being on the larger side for mice. At first I thought it was heavy, but it glides very smoothly and in the end I actually added a bit of weight to it. It fits in the hand fairly well, although the forward/backward buttons are not ideally positioned. br / br /For everyday use, a lighter mouse might be better. The Microsoft optical ones are not bad, and cheap. br / br /The real problem I have with this mouse is it's cost. It just isn't that much better than the 5 Samsung optical mouse I normally use.
Great mouce, but it has it's problems November 4, 2007 Svetlana Karpova (Berkshire, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I always wanted a good gaming mouce, and I was recearching the market for a long time. At the end I was stuck in the choice this or G7? I chose this, and i am happy that i did. br /This mouse has a nice colour choice, and the wheight adjustment is more important then you can think. The changing of DPI is done neatly: under the mouce wheel, there are 2 burrons that can change it. The levels can be customised using software in complect. br /However, I give it 4 stars because my g5 has one problem: wheel. because of being able to scroll it to right and left it requers sertain skill to press it down, without moving it to right and left. Also, in my particular one the scrolling is broken, since sometimes it scrolls without moving it a segment, or other way around: you can move it one segment, without scrolling. br /Overall it is a great gaming mouse, and I would sugest buying it, if the schooling and pressing the wheel is not important to you.
