4 out of 5 stars Model not as per Photograph   October 28, 2008
Richard Lane (UK)
A word of warning, if like me you have used one of these before and were expecting the device to be the same as the one used by Amazon in the photograph then you might be disappointed. br / br /Targus have changed the design of the current model and it is different from that photgraphed. Of course, it is personal choice but I have to say that I preferred the old one as it seemed to fit my hand more comfortably and the layout of the buttons is, to my mind, less user friendly. br / br /Probably best to check the Targus website before buying to see what you will be getting.

5 out of 5 stars A great solution to a teacher's problem   October 9, 2008

Finally I have set myself free from being chained to the computer desk in classrooms. The range of the device is perfect for the average size classroom and the mouse function makes it far more user friendly than similar items that only allow you to move slides on. I also use ti with the smart board to move objects around the screen from all over the room. USB connectivity is a great feature allowing the user to plug in and get going quickly when time is of the essence. br /A hard case would have been a bonus. br /Very reasonably priced too given the competition.

4 out of 5 stars So far, so good!   September 7, 2008

I bought this item with some trepidation, mainly on account of a number of reviews casting doubt on its durability. If I needed it every day this factor might have tipped me into buying a more expensive version, but as my requirement is relatively infrequent I've decided to take the risk. br / br /I've only had it for a few days, but so far I'm very pleased. It worked "out of the box" with Vista, with no connectivity glitches as yet. br / br /The device has two modes. In "presenter mode," the main buttons enable forward-slide, backward-slide, start and stop presentation, and blank screen. There is a perfectly adequate laser pointer, only operational in presenter mode. In "mouse mode," the central control acts as a joystick for cursor movement (with, incidentally, no sign of the "mouse creep" experienced by some reviewers.) The other buttons provide left and right click functions, together with page-forward and page-back when in a web browser. To be honest, the mouse mode is a bit of occasionally-useful fun, but as a bonus to the main presenter mode function, why not? br / br /Apart from doubts concerning longevity, my only other reservation is that it is too easy to forget to switch it off after use. Perhaps some sort of auto-off function could be incorporated? But that's probably unrealistic at the price, so I'll just carry a spare battery (1 AAA, so not a big problem.)

3 out of 5 stars Ok when it works   December 17, 2007

Bought this device some time ago. It has always had problems with connection but when it is connected it works well --- well almost. Buttons often jam and has now packed up completely with jammed button for forward. Will buy a more expensive one in future (not targus although their cases are great) br / br /Mouse creep is also a problem, but amuses the audience
