Very good buy July 22, 2008 S. Gupta (Poole) The system is excellent and the sound quality is also good. Its a good system but not as good as a home theatre system !. Good to have in the bedroom for easy listening. Good value for money.
Another quality JVC product! July 22, 2008 Harry H (Yorkshire, UK.) My very first "proper" stereo was a JVC (back in the 1990's) and I hadn't bought another JVC until this NX-PS3. br / br /The main unit itself is a breeze to use, an ideal bedroom stereo as it has a daily timer setting which (unlike many other hifi makers) allows you to set the wake-up volume... this means that you can go to sleep with the stereo at a low volume (in conjunction with the sleep timer), and then wake up at the volume you pre-set in the timer setting. br / br /My only criticism about the timer is that there's only one, so you'll have to re-set the timer if you want to sleep-in at the weekends. An ideal solution would have been to make the stereo switch on automatically whenever the iPod is activated, allowing you to set as many timer settings in the iPod as you need... feature request for a future JVC perhaps? br / br /As someone else already mentioned, the file access is a bit clunky with USB memory sticks. It can read mp3 ID3 tags but only after you start playing the mp3, you search by "track number". If you separate albums in folders the JVC calls them "Groups" which are only numbered! I would recommend only using a USB stick of 1GB max, otherwise you'll get lost trying to find tracks! Having said that, you can use it like an iPod shuffle, set the JVC to random-play "RND" and use the USB stick as a handy party shuffler. br / br /Another small criticism is the remote, considering the vast majority of functions can only be handled by it, its a shame they opted for a thin "credit card" style remote, unlike the rest of the stereo its quite flimsy and likely to get damaged quite easily. JVC should really have stuck with one of their standard style hifi remotes as it really lets the side down. br / br /Overall sound quality is very good and will no-doubt impress friends (with the bass boosted a bit). I bought this to replace a bulky Philips stereo in the bedroom, the sound quality isn't quite up to the 2.0 large speaker system of the Philips. With the JVC's EQ set to "flat" it definitely doesn't sound as flat as it perhaps should compared to the bigger Philips speakers but for the price I wouldn't expect it to! Anyway this cost a fifth of the price and takes up a quarter of the space of the Philips (probably even less) with a loss in sound quality most people wouldn't even notice, so these advantages are reason enough to keep the JVC. br / br /Personally I'm not keen on ported subwoofers as I find they sound "boomy" but its easily fixed by filling-in the port, and its in the bedroom so the closest thing to hand was a clean sock! I stuck the sub under the bed, and yes, the next morning it certainly woke us up! br / br /Overall, quite pleased. Makes me wonder why I waited this long to buy another JVC!
A Mighty Atom.......! ! ! July 19, 2008 Ian Wantling 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
On opening this system the heavy weight of the tiny components gives you an indication that they are of quality build. Superbly packaged, this system is easy to master and if desired, its small size makes it easy to conceal. Although not limited to iPod ( I have a dab radio hooked up to the unit) - it is best used as an iPod speaker system. The sound at first was a little flat and at maximum volume wasn't loud enough for my liking; lacked that "ooomph" factor. Then I learned to use the system's equaliser settings and hey presto ! - out came the ooomph ! The sound delivery is warm, hearty and velvety - it certainly doesn't disappoint. My only complaint was the inability to change album on the iPod using the remote handset - you are only able to skip back or forward through the tracks, to change albums you must do this via the controls on your iPod. br / br /I'd say this is ideally suited to static kitchen/bedroom use - but not as your main system and would certainly recommend it over the portable sound docks for a superior sound quality.
Great system, better for iPod than USB flash drives though July 19, 2008 Angela Bromley (Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A fab system with a great sound. br / br /Unfortunately, there is a very clumsy and time consuming method of changing album if you are using the system with a USB memory stick. br / br /Probably easier to use with iPods - the box does say the system was designed especially for use with iPods.

excellent buy, well made not cheap plastic like most systems on the market, produces a good quality sound.I was looking for a docking station for ipod but chose this because of the speakers you can place them where you want for the best sound. I would recomend this product.
