do not buy September 2, 2008 After purchasing the printer, i was pleased to find easy intasllation and setup, with no vista complications...except for printing low quality, faded images from Windows picture viewer...
however, after very little use, the printer cartridges have 'dried up' and it is now permenantly in a state of 'error', displaying error 3 - paper jam, (a common fault) which is as far as i can tell, irreversible.
DO NOT BUY
Five stars for performance, one star for running costs August 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, I've had my Pixma for nearly five months now. I cannot fault the performance of the machine at all. Vibrant colours, simple to use, scanning is a doddle. Compared to my previous Hewlett Packard (whose products I wouldn't touch with a bargepole again), the Canon is ideal for my needs. For overall performance, I'll give it five stars.
Running costs however are something else. Nearly twenty quid for a colour cartridge, that is barely enough for twenty A4 full colour prints?? At approx 1 a print, it's cheaper to go to a print shop. It's not as if you can get the colour refilled. Apparently, you can't. Only the black and white is refillable. As even the latter costs upwards of 15 new, I reckon somebody at Canon is making a hell of a lot of money.
Would I buy Canon again? Probably yes, but only if they drop the price of their cartridges! Sorry Canon, but you could have had the full five stars if I didn't feel as though I am being slightly ripped off.
Speedy printer but a bit bulky August 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cheap printer. Bulky but for occasional use, this printer can handle the job. Printer speedy was quite fast. So far so good but I've only had it for a month. Scanning software that it comes with is easy to use.
NIce bit of kit August 9, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It amazes me what you can get for less than 30 quid these days. OK so it dosnt have an lcd screen so you can see your pictures from your camera. Big deal. How many folk do that? The scanner is way faster than my stand alone HP. And the print quality is top class. And quick, real quick. Its control panel is easy to understand and I do like its fit to page feature. The now "lets make it gloss black" looks good but you can tell its built to a price. The paper rest at the back for the printer could do with been taller and the when you lift up the scanner lid and base to pop the ink in the prop that holds it all up could have been a bit taller. But we are nit picking for the price. The software installed onto vista no trouble. Nothing went wrong or screwed up any exsisting programs. In fact after all the pain I have had from HP drivers this was a refreshing change. Would I buy another. Yes. Its a cheap all in one.
Brilliant printer - fantastic price! July 29, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received my new desktop pc and this Canon Pixma MP 210 printer this morning. The printer took literally minutes to set up - just took it out of the box, connected it up and bobs your uncle!
I have done some test prints and they are fine. Still have to try the photo printing but need to get some photo paper first!
The only negative point about this printer is that it is a bit bigger than I expected. It just about fits on my trolley desk's printer shelf. It has blended in very nicely with my new Dell desktop.
For under 30 this all-in-one printer is great value and with the Canon brand - you simply can't go wrong.
