Great All In One Printer - Works with Mac... October 3, 2008 Jack Craig (London) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Being a mac user myself, I was wary of the printer not working with them after reading some reviews. However, I bought it anyway and although the CD did not work with my mac, the drivers and software i downloaded from the epson support webpage made the printer work as it should. I wanted to write this incase people were put off by reports of it not working with macs... it does. (I am using 10.5 Leopard) The printer itself is great looking, easy to set up, with super results for the price. I have no negative issues with it at all.
Great Value....? Yes!! October 1, 2008 Mr. R. Jukes (Birmingham, UK) Have had my printer about 4 weeks now, and to be honest for the money I can't fault it. Easy set up, super print quality, super scan quality, and I'm still on the original set of ink cartridges after printing at least 100 photo's and loads of the kids homework. Printing straight from the memory card is easy with the little display screen and the instructions are straight forward.. The seperate ink cartridge system IS economical because you only have to replace the one that's empty not a complete colour cartridge which may still contain loads of the other colours...... Epsons production/large format printers have been using this system for ages...and it's not too difficult to keep a spare set of cartridges in surely!!! I've been setting the output to black only for text only files and hopefully this has helped too. Make sure you select the correct paper output type and colour/quality settings as well, and this should go some ways to preserving ink. I've decided to stick with original epson cartridges for the time being and there are plenty of deals on those on the net.... Reliability remains to be seen, but all in all I think for fifty quid this is the best all in one around at the moment....
Beware the warranty conditions September 10, 2008 Hairyoldfart (UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an excellent printer for the cost BUT...... Epson repair centres will refuse to repair it if it goes wrong UNLESS it contains GENUINE EPSON INK CARTRIDGES IN EVERY SLOT. My printer began to go wrong after only one month, missing bits of print etc. I replaced the black ink at first(it hadn't run out) then each colour in turn (all with epson originals) I ran several nozzle checks and eventually it worked ok. 2 weeks later exactly the same thing happened but worse, no blue. Again swapped the cartridges but only could get a set of compatibles. This didn't resolve the problem and I had binned the originals. Took unit to comet and they sent me to an authorised repairer. This guy had a severe attitude problem and even tipped the printer out of its box from about 18" above the floor (I'd taken it back in the original box etc) opened it up and slid the cartridges by hand, opened the locking plate and announced he wouldn't touch it as it only had compatibles and that is what had caused the problem! He wouldn't listen to the process I had followed and was very customer unfriendly. I left and rang Espon customer support. They sympathised with me over the guys attitude and said they would investigate but took no details so how can they do that! They also confirmed that he was right not to repair a printer without original cartridges in every slot, advised that I buy an original set and take it back and he will repair it. My advice to you is either: 1 Don't buy epson or 2 buy it because its cheap and produces good prints BUT don't unwrap the inks they send out with the printer UNLESS it goes wrong. That way you can use compatibles, print cheap and still get it repaired by putting in the cartridges it came with when you need to!

I bought this printer in March. I replaced my old C48 series only because I damaged it by being too "rough!" Quite frankly I cannot understand all the negative feedback with regard to the machine! I am 71 years of age and nearly all of the things others are complaining about can be easily put right if you just go into the printer status and alter it the way you want it to perform. The black cartridge just run out of the FIRST lot of cartridges I installed since the original ones that came with the printer and I had no problem AT ALL!! (AND, when I installed it initially I accidentally pressed the language to be in German!!) - being lazy I have not bothered to go back into the installation again and even I know what Ja and Nein is in that language so am getting on fine. One day I WILL start all over but am perfectly satisfied with all that I have so far asked of it. Yes it is slightly noisy but it is so much quicker than some printers - also it goes into "sleep" mode if not being used for a while so saves electricity. I think Easy Installation, Easy Instructions and good printing. For the price what more is necessary.
