Superb - Bose beater August 21, 2008 Have been delighted with this CD radio. The sound is simply amazing - full, detailed and excellent on all sources - easily filling a good sized room. The Ipod dock adds another dimension - allowing you access to a potentially huge music collection in excellent quality, all controlled using the standard remote.
Simply brilliant. Buy it!
Huge Sound from a Shoebox June 24, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
You know when you stand outside the room the music's coming from and you wonder what might be playing it? The first time I did that, it was my parents' 1960s HMV stereo radiogram - five feet wide with big elliptical speakers at either end and a valve receiver in the middle. The cabinet was made out of wood, there was plenty of metal and not a sign of plastic - a bakelite knob here and there - but that was about it.
The sound was euphonic rather than pure hi-fi. But the Top 40 on a Sunday night sounded good. The bass rumbled away, voices soared out of the cabinetry and Tommy Vance seemed as if he was, if not exactly in the room, at least very close by. It was the best that Patsy Gallant ever sounded.
And that's what the Creative Soundworks 745 sounds like. A 1960s big, euphonic sound, unbelievably from a largish shoe box that sits on the smallest of your nest of tables. The integration between the hidden subwoofer and the tiny speakers at each end of the box is incredible. Treat it like a portable. Just plug it in, switch it on and off you go. On the downside, the remote looks like it came out of a cereal packet, but that's about it. Now I can listen 1960s-style again, in the room next door, imagining that the music's coming from a box the size of a sideboard.
Small and perfectly formed May 13, 2008 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
Buy this now! The Amazon price of 119 (at least 60 cheaper than it's ever been sold elsewhere) is a bargain.
This CD/Radio is an updated version of the CD740 that I've owned for 2 years. When another radio/CD died it was an obvious choice to get the CD745.
RDS radio, ability to play MP3/WMA from the CD player and an optional Ipod dock make this a superbly featured device.
But the most compelling reason for buying this item is the sound quality. For the size of the device and the price it's amazing. Sound quality - compares favourably to the Bose Wave Radio which costs 3x as much! It will beat many a mini system costing double the price for sound quality and it's powerful enough to fill medium-large sized rooms with sound.
You will not regret buying this item.
