3 out of 5 stars Superb sound, poor durability   August 18, 2008

I have to agree with a number of other reviewers - if you take the time to get the right fit then these headphones deliver wonderful sound BUT both I and my sister have had problems with splitting of the insulation/covering close to the buds. Neither of us is careless or heavy-handed but you can't avoid the damage as either looping over the ear or winding the cable in the case eventually takes it's toll. It's sad to see this basic design flaw I hope someone from Shure reads some of these reviews to ensure that future products don't suffer from this problem.

5 out of 5 stars Most durable earphones I've owned   July 18, 2008

Until I bought a pair of E2Cs back in 2004, I was buying a new pair of earphones every 6-12 months. This was mainly due to my clumsiness and getting them trapped in car doors, bus doors, tied in inexplicable knots, and so forth. Earphones tend to have thin, lightweight cables that are easily crimped, stretched and generally destroyed. br / br /The E2Cs have much thicker, sturdier cables than any in-ear earphones I've seen. As a result, these ones have survived. The gold's worn off the plug, and the original sleeves have long since gone, but the earphones are still in good condition. They've easily outlived the iPods they've been attached to. If I did ever manage to destroy mine, I'd definitely buy another pair. br / br /Admittedly, the over-ear looping can sometimes irritate the skin when the cables move, but if the "woggle" is kept relatively snug against the back of the head so the cables are tight, then cable yanking on the ears is minimised. br / br /Oh, they sound good too.

3 out of 5 stars good sound but difficult to fit   May 11, 2008
Mr. Glyn Sloman (UK)
the sound is very good on these but i find they're not the easiest to get to fit well - i have some sennheiser cx300 as well and tend to use them much more because they fit easily and the wires are much softer and more flexible - the shure headphones are reather uncomfortable compared to the sennheiser

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   April 9, 2008
Mr. J. H. Maisey
I bought these over a year ago, and have to say they are fantastic headphones however after buying some Skullcandy ear buds it is noticeable the difference in bass levels, if you want bass these aren't for you, however if you want a good all-round high quality, comfortable and well fitted pair then these are the choice
