Perfect Student Camera June 21, 2006 Student (UK) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Being a teenage girl there's never enough room in my bag to fit all the bits and pieces i need. As the Canon Ixus 40 is so small i don't have that problem and can carry it with me everywhere so i capture memories to look back on when i'm sober. I saw this camera recommended in a magazine, it is affordable and worth every penny! I bought an addtional memory card and battery along with a case and underwater housing. These have prooved to be essantial. The case fits the camera like a glove, but extra pockets to put the additional memory card and battery would have been useful. The underwater housing was bought for suba-diving trips, being a simple camera you cant't expect top qualilty photos from it, but it's suited to playing around or taking close range shots using the macro function for detail. The battery life is really good, but being addicted to using the camera a back up battery is worth while. I'd recommend letting the battery completly run down before re-charging to prolong its life. The memory card supplied with the camera is not sufficient, but that's expected when buying a camera. It is simple to use and my younger brother and parents can use it although my mum has trouble seeing the functions on the buttons as they are quite small and her sight isn't as good as it used to be. Loading the photos from the camera to the computer is fast and easy, and you dont have to use the software provided by Canon because Windows XP recognises the device. Overally and super little camera.

This review is not for the expert just us ordinary peasants. Saw recommendation in Which so went with it. Brilliant easy to use camera producing great results. Don't be put off by reading instruction book to carefully it is for the expert just skim and do the usual things like battery charging loading battery and formatting sd card. I must admit I was slightly put off by instruction book but used the menu and func.set buttons. All will be revealed when you use them and it is as simple as anything to set it up for the average user like me. Then fire away brilliant. Even ventured into video country up to now a forbidden territory.

This camera is fantastic. Its really small, looks cool, easy to use and well made. It takes excellent photos in all conditions. I cant fault the camera at all. I did a lot of research on the net before I bought it and I am very pleased I chose this camera.
I love this camera January 4, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
It looks great with its silver metal casing and the large screen makes the pictures really clear to view. It is easy to use straight out of the box using the auto mode but there are several other modes too.
