Good Sound but... October 8, 2008 Mr. M. Turner (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned the creative headphones for a little over 6 months now; br /Positive points: br /Good sound br /Good Isolation br /Nice Design br /Good selection of comfortable plugs br / br /Negative points br /Cable noise - there is a great deal of interferance when wearing the headphones under clothing as the wire knocks against the material br /Build Quality - although at first glance the headphones look to be a good quality, my headphones developed an annoying crackle fairly quickly and have now broken beond use after just over 6 months. This is most likely due to not keeping them in the case but I can see the problem developing after time even if the case is utilised for storage and transport. br / br /I have since purchased the Shure E2C for a bargain at 24.99 + PP, I would recommend these oevr the Creative for both sound quality and build. There is no cable noise and the connection appears to be of a much greater build quality.
Brilliant But Blited July 14, 2008 Mr. A. Cleevely (London) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I completely agree with all of the previous reviewers; the sound quality is top of the range, yet be prepared only to experience this for less than a year. br / br /I've owned a range of in-ear headphones over the years, everything from the basic - and terrible - ipod in-ear, to sony's mid range and the shure ec2's. Out of all of these Creative's were the best for overall sound quality, and by some margin! The Shure's gave the "purest" sound in the mid to high range, however, for base they're hopeless, giving far too much emphasis upon the high end tones. The apple and sony lacked any depth to their sound, although they had the opposite problem to the Shures' of too much base. Creative have managed to get this balance just right, according to my ear. There's a great depth and warmth, showing a mastery of the mid to high range, with base that simply adds to anything you're listing to, rather than you craving more (the Shures') or distracting you from the song itself (apple and sony). All things being equal, I would recommend these headphones on sound quality with no hesitation, whatever the budget! br / br /But alas, the build quality is in opposition. After about 10months I experienced exactly the same "crackling" problems as the majority of the other reviewers and am writing this review as I'm in search for a new set. It's incredibly frustrating as Creative clearly have gone to great length to produce such great sound, yet seem to have forgotten to invest in durability...so close, yet so far Creative! br / br /However, the reason why I'm able to talk with experience, having consumed a good number of in-ear headphones, is because all of them have lasted for about 10-12months! I've always taken care. Increasingly so with each successive "replacement". Yet they've always had a similar limited shelf life. And, interestingly enough, with every single pair, the problem has always focused upon the connection with the jack - as other reviewers have mentioned. So, it could well be the case that this (10-12months) is a "normal" life expectancy for a frequently used in-ear headphone, regardless of make and price range! br / br /So, to conclude, assuming that most in-ear headphones only last for about 1 year, then these Creative headphones are indeed a very very good pair to consider, offering a market leading balance of sound for the price range.
Great till the broke few months later May 14, 2008 A. Kidner (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these not long ago and they worked like a treat with my Zen Vision M. I loved the sound, and like some comments here, you just need to fit them in your ear properly to get the perfect audio from them. The boosters really help with that. The trouble is they broke really quickly which I'm disappointed at because I look after my things. Ie make sure I pull them out from their jack rather than tugging on the wires to pull them out a socket, but despite my being careful the sound out of one earphone has gone due to a deterioration in the wiring where the jack meets and the cables that lead to the earphones. For the price I paid I would have expected them to be a little more robust. Shame now I have to look for another pair
Good but not robust enough April 30, 2008 G. Scott (Somerset UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have a Zen Creative Sleek and as I found the original earphones were uncomfortable after relatively short periods of use I thought I would treat myself to some quality inner ear pieces. Well now I realise that price does not always mean quality, when these arrived I was impressed by the packaging and general presentation of the product they come with an array of size plugs which are easy to change and were remarkably comfortable and easy on the ear good news so far! The case that they come with is `cheap' and quite frankly useless and unless you go on a `packing course' you will never have the patience to get them in and close the lid so to save frustration you may as well bin these straight off. br /The sound quality was great I heard detail in the music that the originals had missed by a mile they were extremely comfortable and blocked a good amount of ambient noise. Like many inner ears though any significant movement of the head or touch the cable and these sounds like you are chewing with your fingers in your ear..... So I should imagine these are not for the gym! The overall feel was great and I was pleased until the right one started to distort and this soon degenerated into a crackle.... Being only about 12 months old and seeing as I take care of stuff like this I was extremely disappointed that a product of this quality and cost should last for such a short time. br / br /So in brief...... Great whist they lasted, but I will not waste any more money on creative product if that means I have to effectively take out a 12 month subscription to keep myself in earpieces. So onward and upward as I surf Amazon for something that will not only deliver on sound and comfort but will hopefully give me better service. br /
