A brilliant little device October 24, 2008 Old codger (Cheshire United Kingdom) I have now had this recorder for over a year and rate it very highly. The quality of the recording and sensitivity of the in-built microphone are excellent and the recorder has proved completely reliable. The plastic body seems a little flimsy but has survived - the only problem has heen that the cover of the battery compartment has flipped off once or twice during handling, and the on/off (hold) switch is rather too easy to activate; similarly one has to be careful not to switch inadvertently br /from music to voice mode or vice versa. However all is forgiven as the ease of use and the feature of easy transfer of audio files to a PC via USB socket make it a stunning little machine.

This is definately 5 star kit, it is a bit delicate, but its tiny and weighs nothing so what can you do? I keep mine in a spectacle case in some foam so its well protected. To record live music is a little outside its capability as the music is boosted in quiet parts and clipped in loud parts and doesn't sound great when heard back, shame you can't set the record levels but then it is a voice recorder.
Excellent machine, but battery cover clip is flimsy February 27, 2008 juleschaz (Airdrie, Scotland) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Having read all the reviews below (and almost every other review of every other voice recorder on Amazon), I purchased this for my husband so I could record choir practice on the nights he's not able to go. BEST MONEY I'VE SPENT ON HIM IN YEARS. br /Without an additional microphone it picks up all voices quite clearly from a distance of 6 yards or so, and will even pick up those naughty choristers who're whispering to each other instead of singing (I've listened to some interesting comments since buying this). br /Like other reviewers, my only gripe would be the flimsy battery cover, which, despite us both being careful, has already been lost.

The shop assistant showed me this gadget when I asked him about dictaphones. I then sat there in the shop and researched it over the internet reading all the 11 reviews written earlier and consequently bought the item. I haven't regretted it one bit. In fact, I have just tried it out and am over the moon with it. br / br /It is every bit as everyone has said about it before. Slim, Shiny, Good-Looking, Discreet, User-Friendly with amazing recording and sound qualities. For someone like me who is used to keeping written diaries, this is the not just the next step up, this brings me on par with Captains Kirk, Pickard, Janeway, Sisko...that whole lot on the Enterprise, Deep Space 9...etc. No more grappling for pen and paper to write in my diary. No more opening up the computer to log the day's thoughts and reflections. I can bring this baby with me to bed and have a good natter into it under the duvet covers in the dark if I am particularly tired or I can just chat into it whilst it hangs around my neck on a lanyard and record the day's events. Verbal diaries are now in...or should I say: Captain's log, stardate:..... br / br /Oh, and about it being a bit flimsy. Like any precious property you own, treat with care and respect. I can understand how it isn't built to withstand a briefcase. Mine (my briefcase) can be a bit vicious. br / br /In conclusion, an item worth buying/owning if you keep diaries like me and are tired of pen, paper and being stuck infront of a laptop/ computer. It is great for verbal documentation/reports...etc. Need I say more...except that it is excellent value for money. Go on, get one and you'll understand what I'm raving about!

Used this at a concert recently (using an external mic) and the results were crystal cleat.
