Welcome Back the Walkan November 3, 2008 Jerry Sevey (U.K) This device knocks everything out of the current gen ipods. br /We have to consider it as on par with the likes of the ipod for being the best multimedia players out there today. br /I bought this Sony Walkman after 5 years of being entertained by the Sony NW-a1000 which i have to say is fab as well in terms of looks and sound. br /It was only recently that i decided to purchase the new Walkman player in hope of putting more songs and as well photos and vids. br / br /I am not disappointed at what Sony have come up with as i always rely on their products to be reliable and always make unusual but exciting products. br / br /Looks:The new Sony Walkman is by far an improvement over the previous models, screen size is large at 2.4" and extremely sharp although not as intuitive as an ipod with the touch screen facilities. Color OLED's for the screen would be cool but it just didn't make it. br / br /Sound: I feel that the Walkman is the best player that boasts sound quality at the moment, the in ear phones are great as well as the bluetooth ones but they can become uncomfortable after prolonged periods of use. The sound enhancement options are numerous and add to the unique touch of Sony Walkman producing the best sounding devices on the market. br / br /Usability: Buttons are intuitive and quick at responding and it is easy to use the six icons as they are placed just right. Although i do like the idea of touch screen . By the way the itouch is slightly too big and hard to hold in your hands, the Walkman is the perfect size, the screen may be a tad small. br / br /Features: There aren't that many features but the ones that are there are a joy to use, it's a shame you can't create play lists on the go. BBC iplayer is something that the e and s series Walkman have but it would have been nice to have it on the a series as it does have a larger screen which is there to watch videos. It's also disappointing that this Sony Walkman doesn't have a top 100 songs features which i used to love on their NW-a1000,it always gave me a list of my 100 favorite songs and actually worked well. i haven't seen any other players do this. Mini games would have been nice since Sony do make games for PSP's but simpler games would have added that extra touch that ipods do have. br / br /Overall: This player is the best of 2008 and i would recommend it to anyone even ipod fans who may think other, they may be surprised. br /
Great! Player Best Ever! November 2, 2008 Mr. V. Vijen (Midlands, UK) I have owned 3 ipod nanos before this Sony Player and i thought they were the best thing after sliced bread, but after doing lenghy research and finally buying this great music player i think otherwise. Sound Quality is 10/10, Design 10/10, Battery life 10/10, headphone (including bluetooth) 10/10, therefore as you may guess overall 10/10. I have it connected (via bluetooth) to my car, home stereo and headphones i love it! althought the sound quality via bluetooth is very good however the wired headphones sound better than ipods for sure. Just want to say one thing - Return of the Sony Walkman. All you ipod buyers just check this out if you are after good quality sounding music.

I deliberatly delayed writing a review until I had used everything on this player. And after 3 months, I still love it! br / br /The player is tiny and fits into my pockets without looking daft. The sound quality is excellent. The video quality is great! The headphones completely make the package as it's great to do chores or run with them on and not have cords get in the way. (It does come with earbuds too) br / br /The software is not great and requires you to pay to upgrade to compress movies. Try google for 'Any Video Converter' as it does the job brilliantly. Since that's easy enough to get around, I still give it 5 stars. And the easiest way to manage playlists is with Windows Media Player. br / br /I love my new toy :)
All about the sound September 29, 2008 Mr. RJ FLATT (Bungay, ENGLAND) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Firstly, the most important thing when considering buying an mp3 player...what does it sound like? This player is without doubt the best sounding mp3 player on the market. The supplied in-ear headphones are excellent and manage to provide truly exceptional sound with a lot of bass. The also supplied bluetooth headphones, while not sounding as good as the in-ear, are still very good in their own right. br / br /The player looks and feels great. While the player may not include extras that some other do, i.e f.m radio, playlists on the go (they have to be created on computer and downloaded onto player), what it does do it does very well. The menu's are all very intuitive and it is easy to navigate around the various functions of the player. br / br /Along with the sound quality, another big selling point is the battery life. 36 hours for music and 11 for video. These times are reduced however if using the bluetooth headphones. br / br /The player supports drag and drop, but will also work with other software apps such as windows media player or media monkey. br / br /All in all, if you are in the market for a new mp3 player, then you would be a fool not to consider this sony player.

Very impressed.Easy to set up even for an old timer, plenty of settings for br /sounds.Down loads very easy with the supplied CD.Other people have complained about the wireless element but I have had good reception up to twenty feet away. Both sets of earphones are good after you get used to the postions on the wireless ones. The display and information on the screen is excellant.Overall an excellant purchase. br /
