5 out of 5 stars Excellent Plasma from Panasonic   October 6, 2008

I would really just like to thank all the other reviewers for making my mind up over this one, our Q320 LCD lasted just 25 months, so thought that plasma may be worth a try, but I would have still been deciding at Christmas without all these reviews as the choice of TV sets these days is nothing short of staggering, but the choice of 37" plasma isn't. Bought from Amazon, with superb fast professional delivery, this TV boasts very user friendly operation which is a refreshing change, and I cannot really find a fault at this price, really impressive picture quality, loads of inputs, SD card CI card slot etc, good Freeview, audio output is acceptable, but sounds great through the HiFi system, so thanks again everyone for the very helpful reviews, and to Panasonic, cheers for a great television.

5 out of 5 stars Great TV at a steal   September 16, 2008

I've had this TV for two months and am very impressed. I am a discerning viewer who spent weeks thumbing through plasma and LCD TV reviews before choosing the PX80 as a replacement for my trusty Sony CRT. br /I have Virgin Media digital TV and picture quality is great. Even older programmes on channels such as UK Gold are very watchable. Watching HD programmes is a revelation: the quality is so sharp that the picture pops out at you. br /I'm no technical expert but to me, the black levels are very good (I didn't notice any difference from my previous CRT). The TV displays panning shots and fast moving sports action with aplomb. Connectivity is excellent - with 3 HDMI connections and 2 scarts - all on the rear of the TV. There's also an SD card slot so you can viewback photographs. I've not yet got a blu-ray player, so can't judge playback. br /The only fault I could find with the TV was that for the first couple of weeks there was an audible buzz from the rear of the TV. This would increase depending on the brightness of the image. It was not a problem at normal volume levels but was a slight irritation after the kids had gone to bed and I had to turn it down. I discovered that by pressing on the rear casing, this buzzing would disappear. I tightened the screws on the casing, but occasionally the buzzing would come back. Having said all that, after two weeks the buzzing completely vanished and has not returned. In a nutshell, this is a great TV and is an absolute steal.

Upgraded my old c2002 Panasonic 37" non-HD plasma TV for this new model after reading the reviews on Amazon. It looks good, is lighter and smaller than the older model but just as easy to set up and use. Picture on non-HD is much better and on HD DVD's is brilliant. br /I've teamed it with a Sony DVD that upscales to near HD quality and a Denon 7.1 sound system. Better than being in the cinema! br /

I researched flatscreen tv's for a few months and finally came to purchase this one. I am amazed at the picture quality on freeview and sky, it out performs some far more expensive models recently available. I have also connected a samsung f1080 dvd upscaler to the tv and watched diehard 4. I set out put at 1080p, even though this set is not full hd 1080p it is capable of showing this res using special circuits inside. I was blown away by the picture quality, i didnt think i would be able to afford such a set up. Dvd player available on amazon @ 54. I read reviews about the sound being poor for films, its not its fine! I would of given this set 5 stars but for a slight huming from the back of the set after a good few hours viewing, particually on screens that have a lot white in the shot. I sit about 9ft away from the tv and am a bit of a perfectionist and can just about live with it. All that said at the moment is pound for pound the best flatscreen available at the moment.

What a superb TV. Make sure you do it justice and use some decent cabling and feed it an HDMI source wherever possible. I hooked up my Onkyo DVD player via an Ixos HDMI cable and the result was awesomely rich colours and smooth movement when watching Transformers. The sound's poor but that's what you expect with any flat panel TV so no real surprise there. Standard Definition pictures through a QED Squart are not quite up to DVD quality but still very good indeed. The SD card reader is also handy and displays very crisp HD pictures. Ignore the "non-1080P" tag - it just doesn't matter when you can get all the benefits of a plasma in a 37" package for under 600.
