My Poor Neighbors November 8, 2008 E. Kirton (London UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After months of hearing my neighbors annoying music ring through my house I finally thought ill get back at him by kitting myself out with this monster. From the output that I hear from his speakers the max wattage they could possibly be is 100w. Ahahaha this beast is 850w- Now he cant hear himself speak or think, ahahah :) br / br /OK here's the Good and the Bad- my little review: br / br /The Good: br / br /.850W, 1 on the loudest speaker systems that you would ever hear. br /. Great DVD quality which automatically Upscales to 1080P br /. Base level drops to nothing when there is dialogue, allowing you to hear every word the actor is saying extremely clearly. br /. Pro logic 1 and 2. br /. Night mode- drops the very high bass levels to suit the quite night. br /. Audio port connects to anything with a 3.5mm output- so it connects to your PC, cellphone, mp3 player, nintendo ds, psp, tv, etc. br /. 1 Optical output port- this give you HD audio Output, and yes its a little better than the reqular audio output. It works like magic with sky plus HD. br /. 1 HDMI Port, allows for dvd upscaling- a massive improvement over standard dvd quality. br /. Usb support, the 2GB USb i tried works just fine. br /. Bass boast, doubles the bass output from speakers, including the subwoofer. br /. OMFG 850w Bounty Killer- lodge must be heard, And the new King Kong is simply a must by with this setup. br /. To all gamers- yes it connects to ur pc u just need an audio cable. br /. Very Very long speaker wires. br /. Looks very expensive and nice br / br /The Bad: br / br /. Very cheap looking and feeling remote control. br /. Only 1 hdmi port and only 1 optical audio port. br /. Cant play videos using the usb port, it only supports audio and images. br /. Images from the usb port are not very good quality. br /. Remote takes some getting used to, and there,s no eject botton on remote br /. 850w means playing it at max sometimes hurts ur ears. br /. On screen UI is not a bit hard to use- no its not the ps3's UI. br / br /Final words: A must buy system, the good far outweighs the the bad, 100/10. br / br / br / br / br / br / br / br / br /
Room-filling, smile-giving fabulous fun - buy this one!! November 8, 2008 Mrs. J. Denton (Orpington, Kent) Bought this elsewhere, but after hours of researching other peoples very savvy comments on these Amazon reviews, went for this box of tricks (yep, paid a bit over, but just can't be doing waiting in for deliveries!). And you can't argue with this many 5 star reviews can you?? br / br /Honestly it was a dream to set up thanks to colour coded everything and calibration mic as others have said. No cables included however, so was maybe a bit inconvenient, but does give you the option to choose your own level of sophistication. So I have a Sony Bravia 50" LCD and didn't want to risk blurring and stuttering of fast moving images (more noticeable on bigger screens apparently) so opted for gold HDMI and SCART cables which pretty much doubled original cost of this kit, but considering the price not too painful actually. Money well spent imho for longevity and future proofing purposes(time will tell tho!) br / br /Sound clarity was above my expectation, as was volume and the wonderful rumble from the subwoofer. Really gives a feeling of being in the action, very atmospheric, just makes you grin all the way thru the film (even the scary bits!). Superb value for money, look no further. br / br /Can't wait for Mamma Mia to get released!!!
Excellent value November 7, 2008 Mr. Victor Mccormick (Kent, England) Sony DAV-DZ260 - 5.1 ch - DVD Home Cinema System - Black br /Bought this kit to replace Sony surround sound system that cost treble the price some years ago. It proved easy to set up especially the automatic balancing of the speakers. The sound is superb and I am seriously considering buying another set for the spare room.
Feel The Force November 6, 2008 Loz (Chichester) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this system on the Sunday 2nd Nov 08 and rec Wed 5th Nov, 100% perfect from Amazon. br / br /1. Read the manual, it helps guide you to setup the speakers and where to place them for your total home cinema sound system. br /2. Its really easy, I got all the parts out and placed them where they needed to go. br /3. I then unwrapped the cables and matched them to their colour on the back of the speakers, front side, back rear, front woofer. br /4. Plugged in the connections to the back of the DVD player, again all coded. br /5. Turn system on and it will guide you through the sound setup, what this does is tweak the speakers for balance and power, I placed the sound check mic in the middle of the room, then its best to get close to the door and press ok to test system, I left the room shut the door while the sound configures, it takes about 3 - 4 mins and high pitch noise shoots around the room. br /6. I bought 3 Optical Cables for my PS3/HDTV and a Splitter, all working perfect. br /7. Put on your favourite film and sit back and watch, I put on Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith and my god! it was just like being back at the movie theatre. br /8. Playing on PS3, you need to go into audio setup to change to optical audio, this then allows the system to go through the home cinema. br /9. I tested Fifa 09 and if you want to get total crowd atmosphere, just switch on the TV setting on your home cinema (aka DVD player) and this triggers your sound for the PS3. br /10. If you are using this late like I am having a young family it is best to turn the night setting on (easy click on the remote) this reduces the woofer base allowing everyone to enjoy the eve/night;-) br / br /I have been using it for a week now and am still amazed by the quality. br / br /In a Nutshell - HDTV (with Optical Out), Playstation 3 (with Optical Out) and the Home Cinema (with Optical out), I advise buying 3 optical cables and a splitter, one from the home cinema to the splitter main input, then channel one from the splitter to Playstation 3 and channel two from the splitter to HDTV. Its best to note that the Optical Cables do take preference over HDMI Cable therefore no sound will work through your system, with PS3 you have to go into the Sound Settings and change from HDMI to Optical and select the 5.1 channel for total surround. br / br /No need to spend 250 - 300+ get this for 140 its perfect!!! br / br /Accessories br / br /Ex-Pro Optical TOSlink SPDIF Splitter - 3 Port with LED Indicators - allows 3 Optical cables to be connect to one source - Plus 3 x 1m Optical cables - Value Pack br / br /Loz
