5 out of 5 stars Excellent!   October 16, 2008

This is my second set of Sennheiser headphones (the others are 161's that I use at home on my computer) and I was so impressed with those that I decided to buy a cheaper pair for audio transcription work in my day job. br / br /These headphones are so light I hardly feel as though I'm wearing them. Added to the fact that the cable length is not mega long means that you don't end up with a bulky gathering that adds weight. The foam ear pads are lovely and the padding on the headband is so comfortable. br / br /The folding up idea and little case is excellent, it means I can store them neat and tidy in my desk without having to spend ages untangling them. br / br /Going to buy another pair or cordless Sennheisers for listening to the TV at night!

4 out of 5 stars A very different listening experience   October 2, 2008

If like me you're thinking of these for use with your iPod, it would be a very wise choice. What I love about these phones is the blended approach of the sound and the physical design of the earpieces, which result in something that's really a cut above your regular in-ear ten quid jobs you pick up from Currys each time your cable wears thin / you leave your headphones on the tube, etc. br / br /What they do is bring together the sound into a gorgeous and rich whole. What you don't get is the thumping base, piercing treble and headache-inducing mid-tones of most "high spec" in-ear phones that almost split your music into too many disparate sections. What you do get is a blended, rich and detailed output. These phones serve an eclectic music taste very well - they deliver the goods on house, pop, folk, rock, showtunes and jazz and seem very happy doing it. br / br /Some of the reviewers here obviously don't enjoy this new type of sound, and I can see why. It does take a bit of getting used to, and if you're a bass addict you might feel a bit robbed for a while. But stick with it, and you will be rewarded. I wouldn't look back now. br / br /The other point is that they cut out between 50 and 75% of the background noise - perfect for journeys to work, flights or anywhere else where you don't want to be reminded of what's around you but do want to concentrate on your music. br / br /Finally, you can blast your music as loud as you like, and no one around you will have a clue as they don't let any sound out. Perfect if you've got a few street cred-zapping shockers on your iPod that you wouldn't want folks knowing about. br / br /Down one point because after less than a year, the lead has just worn out just by the plug - not great considering I've almost never unplugged them from my iPod. I'll definitely be buying a new pair, but would rather not have to. Also, the case is very fiddly, and almost negates the portability aspect. br / br /Anyhow - I would strongly recommend these, even if they're not the most robust you'll find. Great sound and they look good too. Nice.

5 out of 5 stars UNBELIEVABLE,AND AMAZING   September 27, 2008

WOW!,Having owned many headphones in the past, and being a fussy so and so,I must say that I am totally amazed by these headphones. br /Looking at them, you wouldn't believe the bass that these can produce. br /It's deep and rich, and the sound balance and clarity is also excellent. br /These really make listening to music so much more enjoyable, and I just cant put these down since getting them today. br /These do come with a handly case,so that you can store them away after use,or carry them in a bag.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED,A MUST HAVE. br /You wont be disappointed with these.ENJOY THEM.

4 out of 5 stars Sennheiser PX 100   September 6, 2008

Excellent value for money but you need to be in a relatively quiet environment; significant ambient noise is a problem but I guess it comes with the territory. Doesn't really go with cycling, though, as the slipstream wind battering is intrusive. I aso wonder how they would fare in a mountainbike pileup - they are very pliable but I'm not sure about the overall robustness. br / br /The bass reproduction is another quibble. Listening to classic jazz piano trios, for example, is not altogether recommended as the bass tends to overwhelm the piano and drums. This is even the case on ECM recordings where attention to balance is exquisite.
