Not what it says on the tin! June 1, 2008 0 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is not a multi region player at all. The info says it is and then you get it home and on the back of the player it says Region 2. I have checked various places for hacks and there isnt one. Not very impressed with Amazon at all.
Good Quality Picture May 30, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Im not so interested in Multi-Region, but just wanted a low cost player with good quality picture (I'm very fussy when it comes to picture quality!). I havent tried this on a large screen, but on small screen the picture looks great (vibrant/accurate colours and no colour bleed etc.). RGB video output is provided for best quality. Remote also controls my Philips TV. Dont normally write reviews, but just had to for this! Excellent product, amazing price.

Excellent value for money! May 28, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was looking for a new multi-region dvd player, as my trusty old Pioneer one is now over 7 years old (!) and starting to play-up on occasion. I wasn't looking to spend lots of money, just basically a secondary player for my region 1 (USA/Canada) discs. This Sony one more than fulfills my needs. As others have said, it IS multi-region straight out of the box - no need to chip, hack, enter codes etc. I tested a region 2 disc first, then a region 1 disc, and it played both fine. You MAY have to change the picture line option to RGB if your TV plays back a B&W picture on region 1 discs, but this is easily done and takes mere seconds. The machine itself is very sleek, quiet in operation, and provides very good picture quality. Overall this player is excellent value for money. You'd be hard pressed to find another decent (brand name) multi-region player for just 34.99!

i had been meaning to get a multi-regional player for a while. now i finally had the money! did a bit of research before buying and settled on this one - am not disappointed!! worked on region 1 straight out of the box. did have to change the display settings as it came up black and white but a minute hiccup.
am very impressed and would recommend this to anyone :)
