Excellent product to date! April 19, 2008 S. M. Sivanathan (UK) I have been using my wd passport drive for a couple of weeks now and am extremely happy with it. The drive is very small and light so easy to carry around. I also bought the logic case which was the perfect size for it. All in all I am one happy chappy!
superb efficient stylish product April 10, 2008 Foxfire (Sussex, UK) WD is synonymous with first class hard drives and this small portable but powerful HDD does not disappoint. br / br /Its black mirror super light casing makes it a stylish and efficient accessory to go with your laptop. br / br /Just open the package plug in the USB connector, although short makes the data transfer faster, and you are ready to go. The build in software allows for quick update. br / br /The Passport is factory configured to FAT32, which does not enable files large than 4GB and was used ith Win98 and earlier operating systems. br / br /It is strongly recommended that you reformat the Passport to NFTS, as otherwise the drive will fill up very quickly and one is not able to transfer files larger than 4GB. Full easy to follow instructions how to do this can be obtained direct from the WD support site or in the User guide stored on the WD Passport itself. br / br /It is a great product, strongly recommended br /
Brilliant, better than expected! April 5, 2008 Beck 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would disregard a lot of the bad reviews if you are thinking of buying this. br / br /I'm no expert in technology but what i do own gets used heavily, i do a lot of editing of audio for university and have so much music i needed somewhere to store it all without overloading my laptop. I've only been using it for 3 days but it works perfectly. br / br /It is a lot faster than i was expecting, you can transfer about 10GB of data in about 5 minutes. I was worried it wouldn't be very fast as the review by Mr. M. Ma. suggested your USB ports should be using 1000mA of power, mine are at 500mA and despite this, it is faster than most USB memory devices. I play most of my music files directly off of it and so far, seems very stable and reliant, especially when used all day, doesn't overheat at all. br / br /A couple of things... the USB cable is quite short, i find this useful though, i hate dragging around a lot of kit and the comment about the USB cover being flimsy i found untrue, it is made of thick rubber and seems very sturdy.
Does what it says on the tin March 16, 2008 Wooster (Surrey) Needed a backup for files on two laptops - a Dell and a Toshiba. (Both using XP Home) CD's aren't big enough, DVD's were slow and unreliable. Bought the WD drive. Plugged it in - with the short lead. Copy and pasted the files. Now do a backup on both laptops once a week, and the drive is fast, quiet and efficient. br / br /The drive comes with 'backup software' which allows you to back up the whole of your hard disk (inc Windows etc) and it encrypts the data stored, to stop anyone else reading your data. Only used it once, as it is very slow, and complex to use. But copy paste works fine - albeit with no encryption. br / br /Good drive. Recommend it to anyone.
