Great for kids May 26, 2008 Peter A. Curtis (UK) Very happy with this set... excellent value. My six year old is quite able to use the controls and his little brother gets to watch too. Only problem we've had is with the remote... we can't get it to work but it's not a big deal. I can't think of a time when I'd want to use it.
Yours Too Can be Multi-Region May 23, 2008 Paul Thompson (South Ascot, Berkshire, Engand) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Hey folks. First, this device is great. It has everything I want, including good headrest mounts and 3 seperate jacks for our kids headphones. The built-in speakers are good and plenty loud. And most importantly, it's easily switched to multi-region mode. As we are americans living in the UK with a mix of Region 1 2 DVDs, this was critical. br / br /Here's how (thanks to R. Thorton for his review on Philips PET 720/05): br / br / 1. Switch the player on. br / 2. Press Setup on the remote control. br / 3. Move the menu selector down to Preferences and then press the Right arrow. br / 4. Press 2, 1, 2, 2, 2 and then 5. br / 5. Press Left arrow. br / 6. Press Down arrow. br / 7. The screen should then display Region Code. Press 0. br / 8. Press Setup on the remote again to exit. br / br /And that's it. :)
A great gadget for long journeys May 22, 2008 kcampbel (UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I frequently drive from England to the north of Scotland, a journey which can vary from 8 - 12 hours. My children are really well behaved but there are only so many kids songs and games of eye-spy one can play and stay sane so I have succumbed..... this helps to pass a couple of hours, and for 130 I am very happy. br / br /The picture on the second screen is excellent. The picture on the primary device is a bit washed out, and there is some rattling noise from the dvd spinning. This presents no problem in the car, but might if it were to be used on the train. (though the rattling was not audible when headphones are being used.) br / br /I have a Grand Scenic, and the screens are at a sensible viewing distance away for my children even with my 6'2" frame pushing the seat back. br / br /Please note that the mounting system is delivered with some v. short bolts suitable only for headrests with a spindle diameter of about 10mm. Mine were slightly longer so I had to spend 64p at a hardware shop to buy 8 M4*25 bolts to mount the system. br / br /As per other viewers comments there are wires everywhere but then that is a necessary evil. How else do you get power to the unit and send the signal to the second screen and power it unless you go out and spend 1000's on an integrated DVD system. br / br /All in all great....and the children look forward to long journeys now. I look forward to when they can drive and I can watch the dvd in the back
Philip's Pet707 April 16, 2008 Neil Griffiths (Guernsey) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have just got this DVD player and overall I am happy with it,as for the other reviews there are ways of getting round their comments.I googled DVD hacks and now my player is multi region. As for the cables, yes they are a bit untidy but I got round that by inserting the cables into plastic cable tubing, it looks a lot tidier.Don't agree about the brackets being dangerous as when not in use you clip them off but they do make the screens a little closer than they need be and for this reason I only give it 4 stars.
