4 out of 5 stars A very good product for a great value   October 11, 2008
A. An (London)
I was so pleased with the product, you can watch tv on your laptop! The quality is very clear and you have enough channels to flick through, plus the radio. However, the signal can get dodgy so it would be better to get a proper house aerial if you watch tv a lot. Other than the weak signals occurring occasionally, the product is excellent for its value and especially you're tight on a budget, I say buy this instead of a television and freeview box. It will be worth the money!

3 out of 5 stars Good but needs a better aerial, build quality a bit suspect!   September 21, 2008

This is a great wee gadget for the money, and when mine arrived I was absolutely delighted. I set it all up and plugged everything in. No signal. The troubleshooting begins. To paint the picture: I live in an excellent signal area. I have a direct line of site to the transmitter which is only about 5-8miles up the road. I live in a modern house. When at the front of the house the supplied aerial doesn't work, when I move the back I was reminded of the halcyon days of broadcasting and found myself in a weird position on a chair in front of the window - hey presto, a picture. Shame I now can't watch it! br / br /So I switched aerials and used a small TV-top aerial - worked a treat, but suddenly no longer do I have the portability. I don't really want to humph that around as well when I am away on work. br / br /The other issue I have is with the dongle itself. I would suggest that you don't plug it directly in to your machine and use a small USB extension lead. When plugged in, unless you have the laptop on a desk then you risk bending the plug part. It bends back again, but I am now left wondering how long it will last before any other flexing damages it. br / br /That said when it works the picture quality is excellent and for the money it is a good freeview receiver. I would recommend it to friends but I would advise them as above. Overall I do like it, but I can't imagine getting much use out of it unless I can get a better small and light aerial.

5 out of 5 stars Great Value   September 5, 2008

Excellent service from vendor. Plugged it into my laptop. Installed CD and after using the TV aerial received 86 channels. Some were radio but at least 60 are TV. Great little dongle. Recommended.

3 out of 5 stars Image quality astounding, software useless on XP   September 5, 2008

The hardware is good and with a strong signal produces an image far better than I expected. The mini-aerial is no use. I was extremely impressed until I tried the software features. Text EPG do not show any data; timeshift crashes; it's difficult to re-sort channels; the channel up/down has the opposite result. Even the Help file is half missing ( useless). Will be excellent when finished!

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant piece of kit   September 4, 2008

I purchased this and was pleased with the packaging and delivery time. Connected it to my computer, installed the software and did the search for channels. It found 73 various channels, both radio and TV and works with Windows Vista Media Centre as well as the package that comes with it. Simple and easy to use.
