5 out of 5 stars Bravo Bravia   May 22, 2008

Wow! br /I'll say it again, wow! br / br /This is a lot of very nice LCD TV for a very competitive price. br / br /It does just about everything you could want it to. br / br /It has digital and analogue tuners, both of which have fast searching. br / br /It has fast digital text. br / br /Connections for 2 scart, 2 HMDI, component inputs, surround sound outputs RF inputs, it can be used as a computer screen with picture in picture. br / br /The picture quality even on standard definition is remarkable and at 37" it is big enough to have the feeling of being right inside the picture, without it taking up the space of a small village in Norfolk. br / br /The sound quality is superb and can be connected to a hifi. br / br /The remote control is very straightforward and controls everything. br / br /I really can't rate this TV highly enough. If I could give it 6 stars I would.

5 out of 5 stars TV and service - perfection   May 21, 2008

Ordered this TV on the basis largely of previous reviews and it has met our fullest expectations. Generally easy to set up (although we found that inserting the retaining screws between the set and the stand was EXTREMELY fiddly). Once set up, however, we would fully endorse everything that has been said about the fantastic picture quality, sound etc. We took the suggestion of one reviewer to purchase a THOR scart connector between our SKY+ box and the TV, and this may have helped. As to Amazon service, this also rates 5+ stars. The Sony was ordered (with free delivery) on 14th May, was dispatched as promised on 19th May and arrived 20th May. The scart cable was ordered late on 17th May (also free delivery) and arrived on 20th May. We should also mention a book ordered through Amazon on 11th May to be shipped from a Chicago supplier, which arrived on 19th May. This quality of service cannot be improved!

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous TV   May 20, 2008

No jargon here. No HDMI/SCART/Picture Ratio/line stuff. Just plain facts. br / br /A truly brilliant TV (bought on here for 499!). Functional, well made, easy to set up, great picture, fine sound, adaptable, reliable. We've never looked back and would buy it again and again.

5 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good   May 12, 2008

The 1 star rating from R Bell should be ignored in fact I would give it 5+ stars if it was available. This TV is my first venture into LCD and is beyond my expectations, in fact I was watching an HD transmission on a Samsung LCD and could not see any improvement over the Sony. br / br /Clarity, colours, ease of use, setup, and no delay between turn on and use of remote control, in fact it found my Sony PVR and I can programme recording sessions while the PVR is turned off. br / br /Screen size is just right for a living room, unless you live in a mansion, and the overall size is not in any way intrusive. br / br /Amazon and City Link managed to deliver to me within 41 hours, from time of order 10.00 pm on Tuesday night to time of delivery 3.00 pm on Thursday and I did not choose next day delivery - by the way I live in N. Ireland about 25 miles west of Belfast - so they deserve a few stars as well. br / br /

5 out of 5 stars A marvellous television   May 10, 2008

Had my set for a week now and can only agree with all the other positive comments and would only add that both the manual and remote control unit are very user friendly. The only negative point I have discovered is that there is no button on the remote for subtitles - you have to go through the menu which can be a bit of a faff if the phone rings and you still want to keep up with what is being said. br /One aspect which other reviewers have not picked up on is that there is a setting which enables you to switch off the screen when listening to radio channels (or using the tv speakers to play back CDs from a connected DVD player) This is great because not only does it mean you don't have the distraction of a tv picture in the room, but it also cuts down on electricity consumption - which is quite high on LCD tvs. Another point which I think is very good is the clarity of speech on tv programmes - the backgound music being just that - in the background. br / br /Using the vast array of sound and visual options I have achieved excellent results with this set. (Well worth investing in a DVD player with an HDMI connection and upscaling facility, but I am not really convinced about the merits of HD discs as such). Taken with the very smart dark grey finish of the tv it all adds up to the mystery of why this is being sold as budget priced product rather than a premium priced one. But this is for Sony to worry about us rather than us- we can just sit back and enjoy! br /
