Overall, I think it's decent value for money. From what I've heard from other friends who have different DTRs, they almost all have glitches. br / br /The 14 day EPG, series recording and big hard drive are definite pluses for this DTR. br / br /However, it does freeze way too often (it happens to us at least once per week on average, sometimes 3-5 times per week!) resulting in it needing to be unplugged and then plugged back in. This can result in missed and/or corrupt recordings and seems to happen overnight in about 95% of our freezes. br / br /If you fastforward too far and then hit rewind to quickly go back (or vice versa), it doesn't like that and often jumps back to a somewhat random point in the recording. This seems to be common in a lot of DTRs from what my friends tell me - not just Thompson. br / br /We don't find it noisy but it's in our lounge. If you had it in your bedroom, I would think it would seem very noisy. br / br /I don't regret buying it but hope that future updates sort the freezing and the fastforward/rewind/jump issue - in that order. br / br /The customer service was friendly but they claim that re-formatting the DTR should sort out the problem - it doesn't. I've done this about 3 times now with no noticeable difference.
