Purchased this as I'm not a subscriber to Sky and therefore had no access to a Sky Box. This is one of the easiest electrical appliances to set up ever! Two minutes, plugged in and working. Haven't really read the manual (in the almost two weeks since purchase), but am using it every day without and love the fact that I can record two different programmes whilst watching another! Unlike other reviewers, I've not been able to hear the fan - even in the early hours of the morning when it was very, very quiet in the house. I love it and don't know how I lived without it. I would have given this 5 stars had it been that the recording menu was clearer, but this is purely because I can't see that good (an age thing), but others will not have the same problem. Perhaps there is a way to make the writing bigger, so it looks like I'll have to read the manual after all!

This machine started off great, it really did everything we wanted. br /It was easy to set up, just a few minutes....although dad couldn't find some buttons - read the instuctions and find the secret pannel in the remote control! br / br /The problem and reason for my current 3 stars is that we had this very loud, annoying and random beeping noise coming from the machine. You could have 8 beeps in one minute, then it went quite for a few mins then it was back to another 3 or 4 beeps. br /Then came the "hard disc errors" which when you pressed ok, turned the machine off. A pain when you are in the middle of recording something. br /Both problems are due to a faulty hard disc. br / br /So this machine was sent back and I am waiting for word on a replacment. I am willing to give it another go as it did work very well, the picture quality was great and like I said it's easy to use. We had NO problem with fan noise. br / br /I say give it a go but be prepared....I can't wait to get our replacement because after only a week of using it we are having a hard time living without it!! br / br /

I brought the Humax 9200TS as a Sky+ alternative about 2 years ago and I haven't looked back since. The Humax has been totally reliable and has some great features. br / br /* Such as recording two channels at once while watching something else or something you recorded earlier. br /* Watch something after you start recording br /* Download the programs you record to your laptop/PC via the USB connector. You can then burn the programs to DVD (checkout the Humax forums for details). br /* When you return to continue watching a recording it always starts from the point you pressed stop. br /* Picture in picture is also useful br /* Commercial skip (no need to watch adverts again!) br /* Easy to use interface for recording and program finding (even my wife finds it easy) br / br /One of the best parts of the ownership has been the automatic free software updates which have not just fixed bugs but added many new features including; br / br /- Series Recording br /- Alternate Instances br /- Split Recordings br / br /My only negative comment would be that the PVR9200 doesn't really work as MP3 player as advertised because the MP3 partition space is limited to 5GB which is too small for me. Plus the MP3s navigation and random play features are too limited to be used. br /

Thinking of buying the Humax PVR9200TS. Sounds like a great product, based on past reviews. br /Is it possible to save from the hard drive to a dvd recorder?
