I recently purchased this camera from Tesco Direct for( 144.95)no one else is currently supplying it cheaper(unless you know otherwise). By the time I'd decided to buy it Amazon were not listing it and the online prices(from other amazon site traders) were higher. Sorry guys. br / br /What a bargain. I already have a Finepix F700 - a brilliant compact camera but lusted after more zoom. I did my research via www.dcreviews.com and other user review sites including the many here on Amazon and starting looking to see who could supply it cheapest. br / br /I'm waiting now for better weather having tested it out in and around home all seems to function OK. It helps that I'm used to Fuji cameras and quickly got up to speed on the various programmes, functions etc; br / br /For what it's worth if any reading this is thinking about buiyng the S6500 don't wait any longer - get one quick before they're all gone. I've also bought a UV filter and a camera bag that you must consider buying for this camera. Amazon supply the bag at half the high street price. Mine arrived this morning and it very good quality. It's a genuine Fuji leather camera bag that cost just 14.71 including 1st class post. I only ordered it on Saturday afternoon. The camera fits it like a glove. br / br /

Forget mp and all that rubbish it doesn't really matter anymore. But if you intend to wallpaper your home with your latest holiday snaps you may need to consider a slightly higher mega pixel count. I, and I'm sure the majority of us, don't want massive massive prints. So this Cam is fine on that front. br / br /I've had it for 3 weeks now and I can honestly say it will be hard to find a camera this versatile and customisable, with a great lens and which is simply made to be in your hand for another 3-600 pounds above the price of this cam. You can select point and shoot, which can be great when action is happening, or you can do all those lovely open shutter shots of time lapse car headlights or waterfalls you've always dreamed of! It is simple... amazing. br / br /However! and for me this is something that is being missed a little on the reviews here... The picture quality is good... but it's not brilliant. In relatively low to medium light situations you will notice noise. In fact I must admit I expected a bit more from this camera on that front. br / br /I would say for the money though it's a steal and if I had to pick any camera under 350 this would be the one. I would recommend it to Students, Amateur Enthusiasts, or families wanting something more from their snaps. If you are semi Professional or above... I would try it out before committing. br / br /Good - Normal AA Batteries! (First I thought this was a bad idea until my blond moment had passed and I remembered you can buy rechargeable AAs! Not only do they last ages, but if they run out in the middle of a festival or something you can just buy a set of disposable ones in a shop! Perfik!) Customisable Photography (Your Granny and a creative genius will love this camera) - Feels great shooting with it - Amazing wide lens br / br /Bad - Picture quality good but not brilliant... and isn't that what Cameras are all about? br / br /All in all a great camera which takes good pictures... if you are the next photographer of the year, use this cam on the way up! br /

I researched for a good bridge camera for two months after another point and shoot Fuji E550 made me very enthusiastic about photography as it offered compelete manual controls. br / br /Well this camera has been with me for 6 months now and there has not been a single time I have wished even to move to a proper SLR. What makes this unique from its league a few features one can only find in a proper SLR. br / br /1. Manual zoom (saves 60% of your battery and with a 10X zoom beleive me you would a bad full of batteries if you were using motorised battery operated zoom br / br /2. Lens: In my opinion the lens on this baby gives you the absolute wow results, with appropriate settings in manual mode nothing is impossible. using the sunset auto mode you can even make a full sunny afternoon in a wonderful champaignish sunset br / br /3. Its fast and when I say fast I mean it is fast in non-RAW mode. We were at a castle which was closing in half an hour and we were late to cover the whole Hever Castle (a wonderful place near London on the way to Brighton)we took 530 pictures in just 30 minutes all of them amazing and with a single pair of 2300 enegizer rechargable batteries. br / br /4. Manaul and automatic controls so from point and shoot to fully manual you name it this camera has it and face detection works just perfect. br / br /5. Screen and view finder - excellent i use view finder as it has another screen in it and is not optical that means i can change all the settings and not drain my battery. br / br /6. Super Macro and Macro modes well you can take pictures touching an object and the camera still focuses on it. br / br /7. The looks oh the most important bit though you are not carrying a 500 quid SLR you get to recieve the same respect from people as it looks just like any professional SLR and it is very easy to handle. br / br /All I can say guys if you are tight on budget and even if not dont go for any SLR's or any other highly expensive Sony or Canon camera this will do the job for you beleive me. If still not satisfied go to Flicker and search with Camera type and see what this camera can do. br / br /I recommend it 1000% and if you are proffesional photographer already you most probably be already owning a D80 or something. but if you are just stepping into photography please dont go for D40 as yet move to a bridge which can do what you are capable of doing now and then move towards a better SLR then D40 after fully consuming all functions S6500 offers. br / br /I hope this helps. br / br /Cheers and share your pics dont just save them on your PC.

I don't think Fujifilm is doing a good job on the marketing of this product because it is like the hidden treasure of medium-budget cameras. I found about it only after a very careful and long research on the internet. There are some very good web sites where you can compare same photos shot with different cameras. Find those web sites (i.e. http://www.imaging-resource.com/IMCOMP/COMPS01.HTM )and see how great camera this is (this is known as s6000fd in US). Canon 5S IS is considered to be the closest competitor to this camera, it's much more expensive than this one, but you will see that even in lower ISOs it takes worse photos. S6500fd is far better than all the digital non-DSLR cameras I have compared, and even better than some cheap DSLRs in some areas. We shouldn't compare it to DSLRs really, but when you do compare it to a DSLR that is twice as expensive, you will be surprised to find out that in some areas 6500fd takes better photos. br / br /A few things you need to be aware though: This is not a point-and-shoot camera and it takes terrible photos on Auto mode. But... Just use the P mode, turn the chrome mode on and fix ISO on 100 or 200... That's all... It now does a better job then all point and shoot cameras... Want more than that? Then be patient and read the manual. It's fun to experiment and play with different options as well. br / br /Another thing, it's not a pocket size camera. Having said that, it's not heavy at all. The weight and the size actually feels just right when you take a photo. A bit difficult to carry around though. br / br /But I was really tired of digital photos that looked like paintings, and this was what the doctor ordered. Crystal clear, sharp photos, perfect colors, still look like real photos on larger prints rather than paintings. If I ever get another camera, it will have to be an expensive DSLR. Only that could compete with this one and be something out of this camera's league. In the meanwhile, I will enjoy s6500fd. br / br /P.S. This camera is not sold in US anymore, I guess they are not continuing due to the recent new additions to the Finepix line. Hurry up and buy one while you can.

This is just such a god camera!!! I wanted it because, until now, i've ust had a camera on my phone and shot with that...which is ok, but the pics are never that good...i'd sooner take a disposable with me!! So, i did some research, read hundreds of reviews, and decided this was worth a bet...and boy oh boy am i glad i went for it!! It's a really simple camera to use if you want it to be, but will satisfy those who want to start getting into the nitty gritty of photography. br /The Auto function will just do your point-and-shoot stuff, but will do it really well (better than my phone camera anyway!!!!), but if you want to set the scene yourself, then there is a WHOLE LOAD of settings you can dive into to mess about with...a settings for every occasion i'm sure!!! I've only had it a couple of days, and i'm so amazed by the AUTO function, that i've hardly delved into the more complicated stuff as the AUTO just does everything for me!! br /I got thia camera as i wanted something decent to get me started witht he finer art of photography, not just the point-and-shoot stuff. I've had a quick look through the booklet at the "advanced use" stuff that, at the mo, i can't be bothered with, but when i do, there's more than plenty there more me to play about with, so i'm looking forward!! br / br /As a quick note, it takes REALLY GOOD, if not amazing photo's in black and white!!! br / br /To summarize, this is a great camera to take you from point and shoot to somewhere where you actually understand what you're doing with photography, although i'm sure it's no patch on SLR's (but who wants one of them anyway??!!!! Hehehehe!!!). If you just want a really good, decent, well built and easy to use camera, then this one is great!! br / br /Only one bad thing (but it's really not that bad, and not worth deduction of a star either...)...the battery compartment cover is quite flimsy...it's bound to break one day just due to the nature of the fact that you have to use a little bit of force to open it...well worth spending 11 to get the Accidental Cover Amazon are offering!!
