Top Camera February 9, 2008 L. Read (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
great camera!!! - paid 116 and its well worth the money. Photo's are excellent, no problems there. Video recording is excellent quality (for a camera). I was interested how the video recording performed in low light, and its good (I've seen digital camcorders at more than double the cost perform a hell of a lot worse than this camera in low light). Top buy for the money!
Beautiful little camera February 3, 2008 Demob Happy (London / Grenoble) 31 out of 31 found this review helpful
I bought this camera for my wife after doing some semi-extensive research into the best products of this type on the market in this price-range. I was not dissappointed - it's a beautiful little camera with stylish (and more importantly sturdy) metal casing. Moreover, i've been blown away by the quality of the pictures. I own a digi-SLR myself and was expecting the pictures from a camera of this price to be comparatively shoddy. I was mistaken - the picture quality is markedly superior to that of other point-and-shoot digis that friends of mine own. The automatic function for taking pictures is great, but there are options for more manual settings should you wish to have greater control over the camera in specific conditions. The re-chargeable battery lasts a long time, which is obviously preferable to AA-battery operated alternatives on the market. br / br /One drawback, common to most digital cameras in this price range, is that you have to count on buying a larger memory card than the one included in the box. It comes with a laughable 32 MB card which will fit about four pictures on the high setting - but before you look elsewhere you should know that this is common practise. Thus, you will need to invest in a 1GB card if you want to go on holiday and not have to worry about image storage. Also worth noting is that you ought to buy a leather camera pouch to protect it, as there is no such item included with this product. Enjoy.
As good as it gets at the moments? January 24, 2008 Magnus Price (Windsor, England) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
Bought new to replace my IXUS 40, killed by dust. This is my third IXUS camera. Not quite as fast as the IXUS 40 though like all the IXUS cameras I have tried, using a single center focal point and turning off the screen helps increase camera speed. The buttons are a bit too recessed, a bit too stylish! Great clear screen though and the optical viewfinder is a must for the continuous shooting mode and for preserving battery life. Photo quality is better than the IXUS 40 with much less purple fringing and sharper corners. br / br /From my brief research I don't think the IXUS range can be beaten for general purpose everyday use but a waterproof and dustproof body would certainly be a real selling point for me. I hope it lasts longer than the 9 months my IXUS 40 managed.
Fantastic January 16, 2008 Mr. Michael W. Dodson (West Midlands UK) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I have several Canon Digital and non digital SLR's. In March I was attracted to buying a non SLR for ease of carrying and with the intention of having it with me at all times. I was surprised by the image quality and ease of use. It is very easy to turn the flash on and off which can be a great help. Unfortunately my wife spotted it and now I hardly get a look in. She loves it and takes great pictures with it. The viewfinder is handy but we've never needed it as the screen seems visible in sunshine and the battery lasts at least for a day's shooting. br / br /I am so pleased with it and as value for money it beats every other camera I've ever owned and there have been a few. br / br /The flash has a limited range (about 6 feet) so beware of that. br / br /Thoroughly recommended as a main camera, an everyday camera or as a back up to more expensive kit.
