Loved it at first, until it went wrong September 12, 2008 Ms. D. Hill (UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I bought this camera to take on honeymoon to the Maldives, and at first was totally blown away by it, the number of different functions it has (different light settings etc) are great for holiday photos, and we got some brilliant underwater shots. After 10 days though I started getting error messages saying that there was water in the card slot, and that the cover wasn't closed, although it was. About 3 hours later the camera died totally, despite having only been used to depths of about 1 metre while snorkelling. br / br /I have returned it for repair, but the company I bought it from (Simply Electronics) have now had it for 2 months so I have no idea if it is just a faulty model or isn't fit for purpose. I'd like another one, but buy from a good retailer incase you have a problem... (and definitely avoid Simply Electronics - shocking customer service).
MOVIE MODE: IMPORTANT INFORMATION September 12, 2008 Mr. S. Waltham 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just recieved mine the other day and so far it feels like great little bit of kit. But i think thier is one thing that people need to bear in mind that i didnt realise till after i recieved the camera. br / br /The hi Quality 30 fps movie mode (which is one of the feature i plan to use alot) Is limited to 10 sec rec time UNLESS you update the firmware to ver 1.1 AND you have to use a Type M+ XD card, if like me, you didnt realise this and bought a standerd Type M XD card (or indeed any of the Micro SD cards) your out of luck. everything else works fine but no Hi Quality movie fun for you. Im now haveing to go through the hassle of returning the card i bought so i can replace it with a Type M+. br / br /Its a bit of a poor show on Olympuses part, all it would have taken was a little disclaimer in the advertising material. Come on guys is that too much to ask? br / br /Other than that i still think this a great little camera.
