Great little camera May 23, 2008 Sam (Wigan) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've only had this camera a few days and find it really easy to use. My pictures so far have been great quality, but as i'm not used to such a small camera I kept putting my fingers in front of the flash at first. br / br /The LCD screen is very clear and the menus are easy to use, but even though the camera comes with a basic instruction booklet I wish it had a complete one because I like taking it on holiday with me incase I press something I shouldn't. br / br /For a long time I was going to get the Ixus 75 but changed my mind and i'm glad I chose this one instead. br / br /I also bought the DCC 70 camera case to go with it and its ideal.
A real class act May 13, 2008 S. Worner (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Short and sweet - I've owned this camera since last Christmas and haven't had one photo disaster. It's quality feel, crystal clear photos (no motion blur) and ease of use makes it foolproof. Get it with the Canon DCC70 soft leather case and keep it protected. I've owned at least 10 digital compacts and this baby is head and shoulders over them all!
Absolutely fanstastic camera May 10, 2008 Alan (Kent) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Like most buyers, I read countless reviews before deciding on the Canon 950 IS. I have used the camera mainly as a point and shoot and in automatic mode this camera can't be faulted. The viewfinder may be small but the LCD is so clear, even in daylight, that you immediately forget the viewfinder is there. br / br /The picture quality is absolutely amazing. Every photo I've taken has been crisp and clear with incredible detail. The colours are bright and vivid, whether taken indoors or outside, even in less than perfect light. The flash is more than adequate for indoor use and produces beautifully clear, detailed, well balanced shots. br / br /The attractive, all metal, multi-toned body has a substantial, solid feel to it, yet still fits neatly into the hand. br / br /The controls are easy to use and because the options appear clearly on the LCD you don't need to find your reading glasses when changing settings! br / br /All in all, I would recommend this camera to anyone, whether and experienced SLR user like myself or a point and click user like my wife. It very easily delivers perfect shots, time after time, whatever your skill level and however much time you are prepared to invest in reading the documentation. br / br /My only complaint is that a manual would be appreciated, but at least as a pdf you can enlarge the icons so you can see what you're reading about. br / br /I would suggest the Canon DCC-70 case to go with the 950 IS. It's a perfect fit and though it's referred to as `soft', the case is firm, well supported and even stands nicely on its base. I've installed the SanDisk Ultra II 8GB chip, as the video is pretty impressive as well. br / br /So far, perfect performance from camera, chip, case and Amazon. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever.
Fantastic little camera May 4, 2008 dunny (wales) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this off Amazon a few months ago after reading endless reviews of various cameras. I've owned a couple of Canons before and trusted them so opted for this one. It sat around not doing much for a few months but I was generally pleased with my choice. Then I went away to Australia for 3 weeks with my sisters and the camera came into its own. It is a brilliant camera - my photos were consistently better than my sisters' and they knew it. It also takes great quality "videos". My sisters mother all suffered from camera envy and are now all buying one of these for themselves!
Canon Ixus 950IS April 26, 2008 Mr. T. Lees (Rugby, UK) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Well, what can I say? br /This camera is amazing! 8mp, 4x optical zoom, huge 2.5" LCD screen, image stabalisation, you've got it all! The photo quality is amazing, even in the dark, and on 5th November, I took some photos of fireworks, and they turned out amazingly. As good as a digital SLR. The 950 IS is surely one of the best compact digital cameras around, and the price is pretty reasonable. The picture quality is fantastic, really clear and colourful, and the camera itself is really compact and modern too. It's a stainless steel chassis that fits really neatly in the hand, and I really reccommend this camera! br /The only bad point is that the viewfinder is tiny, but i suppose the LCD screen compensates, as it is so huge, the viewfinder isn't essential. br /Also, after about 6 months of having the camera, mine started over-exposing and had horizontal lines all over the screen. I got in touch with canon, and I was really impressed to see that they gave me an address which I sent the camera off to be fixed, and it was back within a week, as good as new. This isn't the fault of the camera, it was my fault, as I'd dropped it twice before, so I'm not complaining! But Canon's customer service was great, and I'm really happy to have this camera! A great partner is the 2GB SanDisk Ultra II SD card, which can hold loads of photos. It's pretty cheap too, at only 8. Overall, I would definately reccommend this camera to anyone looking for a compace digital camera for great shots and everyday use.
