5 out of 5 stars An amazing film that will keep you guessing.   March 31, 2003

Buy this film, then be prepared that once you have pressed "play" you won't be leaving your seat for the duration. A truely spectacular film that sails through the deep ocean of sinister intrigue keeping you the viewer involved in following each and every turn.

The pace and measure of the film seems right; each moment is well directed but undeniably part of the whole. The acting is subtle, the effects are superb and the attention to detail in the plot is second to none.

Buy this, watch it right through and be preapred for a movie that must be described as "special". It will leave you thinking about it for a while later - just when did the game begin?

4 out of 5 stars A role suited to Michael Douglas thru and thru   January 8, 2003

There couldn't be a better role for a film character for Michael Douglas to have played, He plays Mr Van Orton a very Rich self indulged pretentious stuck up sort of fellow. There are many twists and turns to the film which will keep you guessing all the way up to the end and then a little more !

As the film name sujests "The Game" it is on about playing and taking part in something but he has no clue, no clue what so ever that things are about to become very unusual to say the least. As a man who has everything he wants apart from happiness his brother is struggling to decide on his birthday gift for him... Well He buys his brothers a "Game" but what is the game you ask ? To tell the answer to this you will have to watch as the whole plot may be given away i go any deeper into it.

This is one heck of a great film and a classic that you will watch several times in years to come, Good acting thru out and Sean Penn plays a really good role in the film too.

This DVD does lack in Special features but apart from that this is a must watch.

5 out of 5 stars This will keep you guessing right to the end   December 29, 2002

This is one of those movies that you can watch over and over again even though you know how it is going to end. I first watched it on video and ever since have been counting the days until it came out on DVD.

This is Michael Douglas in one of his best movies. Well acted and the tension builds right to the end - it keeps me on the edge of my seat even though I've watched it about eight times now.

This is one DVD that you will want to lend out to all your friends and then badger them until it is returned. Brilliant.

5 out of 5 stars Not too much, but certainly not too little   April 30, 2002

This is it, one of the movies that make Micheal Douglas outstanding.

A thriller with a blend of action, drama, and a slight pinch of horror. A movie that doesn't reveal too much, but builds and builds till the very intence ending. Excellent story, excellent acting, and excellent use of stylish props that work so much better than overrated computer graphics.

Great film! I recommend it from the bottom of my heart. Don't read the back of the cover, just watch, and enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars this film had me in awe!   July 30, 2001

Why does everyone knock the ending of this film? in my opinion it was the best part, to see the trama he goes through thinking hes murdered someone & all it was, was a "Game." throughout the film you constantly wonder what will happen to him next, whether he will have his bank account drained or get shot at by a rampaging SWAT team. Amazing film, I was that gripped by it that when he crashed through the roof, thinking he was comiting suicide, & was greeted by his birthday party guests all I could do was laugh uncontrolably. Brilliant film, and still a relatively hidden gem.
