5 stars from a bona fide amateur May 28, 2008 Angus Grant (North Yorkshire) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
To be honest I feel a little ill-qualified to write a review about a video game since I am not what you would call an avid gamer, but I hope that my amateur status will provide enough recommendation for those of us who do not spend our entire lives in front of the video console! I recently got a Wii for my birthday and its the best present I ever had. Along with other games I also got this one and I'm so impressed with it I feel compelled to celebfate its brilliance with everyone else. br / br /It is an extremely playable game with controls which are easy enough to understand but also varied enough to allow your character to do a host of different moves. You wont easily get bored. br / br /The concept of the game is also simple (even if the storyline is a little childish) and this makes it accessible for everyone and anyone. I have to add to all of the other reviews and champion the stunning graphics and compelling music. They really are exquisite. br / br /Some of the reviews mention the annoying sense of the consistently changing viewing and playing angles. I have to say that this is not something that irritates me, in fact it makes it far more original and fun. br / br /The last time I played Mario was about 18 years ago on the Game Boy. Times have changed and this is an incredible game if you enjoy the platform format. If you buy one game this year, you could do a lot worse than Super Mario Galaxy. br / br /
GREAT GREAT FUN!! May 25, 2008 Ms. L. K. Dupelycz (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Fantastic game that has provided me with hours of gameplay. Nothing to say apart from great fun! The graphics are colourful, the levels are varied, and overall its the most engaging and satisfying game that I have played on the wii to date. Highly reccomend to everyone!
A huge disappointment May 11, 2008 Paul Stephenson (Evesham, Worcs UK) 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
Having been a fan of the Mario games for many years I was hoping that SM Galaxy was going to resurrect what was lacking so much in SM Sunshine. Prior Mario games have always added a unique new style and provided enough substance in the amount of levels and the diverseness that they offer that the player would always work away awestruck and very satisfied. br / br /Having now completed this game there is nothing that leaves me with that WOW factor. When I completed SM64 I looked back truly impressed by the difference provided by each of the levels including being lifted far up into the sky by the owl, the evolution of each of the different suits allowing progression through the game and the perfect music that is remembered especially in discovery of the underwater dinosaur. SM World is another game in the franchise that marked itself as a corner stone in the development of the series including the sheer hugeness of the game, discovering Yoshi for the first time and also the multiple hidden warps throughout the game. br / br /Super Mario Galaxy is not a truly bad game and I am sure that early levels will provide satisfaction to the player, however the point I am trying to make is at no stage does anything supremely new get presented that will bring about the WOW factor. I will remain a huge fan of Nintendo but I remain disappointed in search of a game that progresses from SM World and SM64. Please Nintendo provide all of your fans what they have been seeking for so long, that is resurrection of the SM series and a reissue of faith that Nintendo truly is the greatest games development company. br /
